The third round of the Trial European Championship was held this weekend in Krzeszowice (Poland). On the muddy sections due to a lot of rain dropped the day before and for almost fifty percent of the competition, the riders belonging to Italian team showed more and more to be prepared on this kind of terrain. At least to have had bad weather on many Italian rounds in their national championship improved their experience in this case. Matteo Grattarola (Gas Gas) won the “queen” class dominating from the beginning. Even an exaggerate five at the last section of the first lap, given to him by a very strict observer just for having entered the section by foot, did not annoyed him. Introduction to the 3rd round of the UEM Trials Championship

The UEM Trials Championship is entering its hot phase: in less than one month here are the four rounds left. Next Sunday it is the turn of Poland to host the number three in the series. The venue is Krzeszowice, small town not far from Krakow, already visited by European circus in 2010. After the decision taken by the Trial Commission to lower the age limit from 18 to 16 years for participating in the International Class, and in case of closed circuit, to let the young riders riding even motorbikes over 125cc, here is the right place for testing this new rule. Indeed, at the top of the hill outside the town, around a soccer field, there is a large area dedicated to the sections of this event, completely off-road. New age limit in the Trial InternationaI Class

The UEM Trial Commission decided, during the UEM Congress in Belgrade, to lower the age limit from 18 to 16 years of age for participating in the International Class during a Trial European Championship event. As there is no overall classification for the International Class, the commission set the application date for this change to August 1st 2012 to make it possible for 16 and 17 year old riders to benefit from this change for the remaining four European Championship events. The correct wording of the § TL 01.1 – GENERAL, 7th sub-section, will now be: “An International Class shall be included in each event for riders of at least 16 years of age who compete on the same Section route as the over 40 Cup”. Second round of UEM Trial EC in Santo Stefano d’Aveto

A superlative Matteo Grattarola (Gas Gas) dominated the second round of the UEM Trials Championship held at Santo Stefano d’Aveto, on the mountains behind Genova (Italy). Grattarola gained soon a smooth lead on country mate Daniele Maurino (Ossa) in the first loop, scoring 6 points against 8. The twos even improved their already low scores in the second loop, finishing the competition as a photocopy of the first round, contested three months ago. Grattarola first, Maurino second. In the third step of podium Spanish Francesc Moret (Montesa). Great hit for Italian Francesco Cabrini (Beta) in the Junior class. He won and in the standings he overtook the precedent leader, French Steven Coquelin (Gas Gas), today only in third, behind Spanish Oriol Noghera. Introduction to the 2nd round of the UEM Trial Championship

After nearly three months, the UEM Trial Championship is again on the run in the only week-end of this season where the attentions are shared with the FIM World Championship. The venue is Santo Stefano d’Aveto, on the mountains behind Genova, organised by the Moto Club Della Superba. The European riders will be on the scene on Saturday 7th for the second of six rounds, as scheduled in the series. In the top class, two Italian riders are occupying the provisional first two places: Matteo Grattarola (Gas Gas) and, behind him, Daniele Maurino (Ossa). At the moment, Grattarola is in great form, coming from two excellent performances. The victory in the Indoor held on Wednesday and a second place behind Raga at the Assoluti d’Italia disputed last Sunday. The Italian rider, if motivated like he is in this championship where he is fighting again for the crown, can be unbeatable.

Sunday results of Trial EC in Valesia

The first round of the Trial European Championship was disputed yesterday at Varallo Sesia, Italy. Twice vice-champion in the last 2 championship, Matteo Grattarola, Gas Gas topped the European class. French Steven Coquelin, Gas Gas gained in the Junior’s and ex-world champion Finnish Tommi Ahvala stood out in the Over 40’s. Curiousity: all of them were not leading at half competition, they recovered and won thanks to a superb performance in the second loop. Between the top riders after the first lap, Italian Matteo Poli , Ossa had delivered his card with only 13 mistakes, gaining the provvisional leadership. Two points behind was French Cedric Tempier, Sherco, while only third Grattarola, carrying 16 marks. Nevertheless 5 points taken in section 5 because his bike switch off, Grattarola scored the best results in the second lap: 12 points. Results of the 1st round of Trial Youth and Women

Spanish Jaime Busto - Beta and pluri-champion Laia Sanz-Gas Gas are the first European riders to climb the highest step of podium at the first round of the 2012 Youth Cup and Women European Championship, held at Varallo Sesia, Piedmont, North-West of Italy. More than seventy the entries divided in the usual four classes. In the top class of the very young riders there were 4 pilots that made a very close battle for the win. At half competition German Franz Kadlec – Gas Gas, was leading, having lost just 14 marks on the 12 sections put in the loop. One point more for Iwan Roberts – Beta and still separated by 1 single mark, was the future winner Busto. Not distant in fourth position, Italian Gabriele Giarba, Beta, scoring 18. Introduction to the 2012 Trial European Championship

The 2012 UEM Trial European Championship is starting this week-end with a two-days event in Varallo Sesia, North West of Italy. On Saturday it is scheduled the first of three rounds of the Youth Cup and Women Championship. On Sunday the usual four classes of the real European Championship that this year consists of 6 rounds. Nearly 150 riders have already sent their entry-forms. Riders coming from Austria, Norway, Finland, Czech Republic, Holland, Germany, France, England, Switzerland, Sweden and Spain, plus the hosting country, Italy. To see the full list, click here.
