European Handy Bridgestone Cup: Mugello crowns the 2024 champions In 2014 the first event of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup was organized at the Mugello Circuit, Italy. Since then, the series has grown from an Italian series to a FIM Europe Cup. The development has been driven by the dedication and passion of Di.Di. Diversamente Disabili Onlus, the first association in Italy dedicated to bringing people with disabilities closer to the world of motorcycles. Through the driving schools, they lay the foundation for disabled riders to gain new confidence and participate again in races. Ten years after the series celebrated this special anniversary right in Tuscany, which was the perfect frame to host the final races of the season, at the presence of representatives from the main sponsors BMW Motorrad Italia, Bridgestone Emea and FMI President Giovanni Copioli, as well as representatives from national associations. European Handy Bridgestone Cup: the show goes on in Rjeka The Automotodrom Grobnik welcomed the second round of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup. Race 1 Strong domination of the Czech rider Martin Horky (Yamaha R1) followed by Emiliano Malagoli (BMW S1000RR) and Lorenzo Picasso, who raced this round with the second bike of Malagoli. A great gesture of fair play. In fact, during the practice, Picasso had a bad crash with significant damage to the bike. European Handy Bridgestone Cup: round one at historic Le Mans The European Handy Bridgestone Cup raced the first round of the season in perfect conditions at historical Le Mans Circuit in France. The event took place together with the 24 Heures Moto, the FIM Endurance World Championship. The Qualifying Practice was scheduled for Saturday morning and 10 riders reached the Qualification criteria for the races. Race 1 took place on Friday afternoon in sunny weather conditions. Due to a red flag, the grid saw a second start after 7 laps. At the end of fourteen laps of challenges, in the 1000 class Lorenzo Picasso took the win ahead of Martin Horky and Alex Innocenti. The rookie Mirko Koelz from Germany gained the 4th position. In the 600 class Jakob Lorenz finished first and Remo Marinato second. European Handy Bridgestone Cup: Picasso and Sontacchi grab the titles Pictures copyright: Coen Vleugels The third and last event of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup took place together with the European STK 1000 Cup and SSP 300 Cup and Alpe Adria Championship at Automotodrom Grobnik in Rijeka, Croatia. The Race Direction decided to cancel the first Qualifying Session scheduled on Friday due to heavy rain and the second Qualifying took place in wet conditions. Even if the bad weather, rain tyres and lap times of all riders were within the percentage set by the Regulation to participate to the races. Race 1 In the 1000cc class Italian rider Lorenzo Picasso led the race for 8 laps, followed by Martin Horky from Czech Republic and Italian Emiliano Malagoli. European Handy Bridgestone Cup: round 2 in Italy Second round of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup. A thrilling race weekend at the Vallelunga Circuit in Italy in tough weather conditions on Saturday. Race 1 took place in pouring rain, with six riders who crashed fortunately without consequences. It was a race full of emotions thanks to the duel between Lorenzo Picasso and Alex Innocenti, fighting for victory. The challenge ended three corners to the end with Innocenti’s crash after leading three quarters of the race. European Handy Bridgestone Cup: the season got underway in Spain The European Handy Bridgestone Cup raced the first round of the season in perfect conditions in the sunny Angel Nieto Circuit at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. The event took place together with ESBK, the Superbike Spanish Championship, with the perfect organization of RFME, the Real Federación Motociclista Española. The Qualifying Practice was scheduled for Saturday morning and 10 riders reached the Qualification criteria for the races. Race 1 took place on Saturday afternoon in sunny and warm weather conditions. During the first laps Italian riders Lorenzo Picasso, Emiliano Malagoli and Ivo Arnoldi fired up a very close battle for the first position in class 1000. At the end of ten laps of challenges, Picasso took the win ahead of Malagoli and Jacopo Gullà. European Handy Bridgestone Cup: Spanish double round crowns the 2022 champions The third and last round of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup was hosted at Jerez de la Frontera Circuit, in Spain. Two races crowned the 2022 champions. Race 1 Italian rider Samuele Bertolasio (Lesser Impaired 1000cc category) took the holeshot and with a great pace went straight to the win. Behind him the Frenchman Stephane Paulus followed by the Italian Emiliano Malagoli (1.000cc category) and the Czech Martin Horky. In the 600cc category the Italian Maximilian Sontacchi led the way, followed by Christophe Bernard. A few corners before the chequered flag, the Belgian managed to take the lead and crossed as first the finishing line. In the Lesser Impaired 600cc category Antonio Montoya confirmed the title. European Handy Bridgestone Cup second round at Spa The second round of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup took place at famous Circuit Spa Francorchamps together with the Endurance World Championship and Sidecar World Championship, at the presence of FIM Europe President Mr Martin De Graaff. The event started on Thursday with free practices, while races took place on Friday and Saturday with riders from six different countries (France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic), remarking the international aspect of this Championship. Two different categories with a lot of fight and emotions. First place overall and in 1000 category for Italian rider Emiliano Malagoli, while for Frenchman Benoit Thibal had fought for the second position in both the competitions. Despite a fall in the first race, the Czechoslovak Martin Horky was back in saddle for a well-deserved third place in the race 2!
