European Handy Bridgestone Cup second round at Spa The second round of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup took place at famous Circuit Spa Francorchamps together with the Endurance World Championship and Sidecar World Championship, at the presence of FIM Europe President Mr Martin De Graaff. The event started on Thursday with free practices, while races took place on Friday and Saturday with riders from six different countries (France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic), remarking the international aspect of this Championship. Class 1000cc At the end of a thrilling race 1 the French rider Benoit Thibal got the win ahead of Italian Emiliano Malagoli and Martin Horky from the Czech Republic. In race 2 was Horky to win. European Handy Bridgestone Cup: Le Mans’ race Pictures copyright: Paulus Stéphane First race for the European Handy Bridgestone Cup 2022 at the historic Le Mans Circuit together with Endurance World Championship and Sidecar World Championship. Two different categories with a lot of fight and emotions. First place overall and in 1000 category for Italian rider Emiliano Malagoli, while for Frenchman Benoit Thibal had fought for the second position in both the competitions. Despite a fall in the first race, the Czechoslovak Martin Horky was back in saddle for a well-deserved third place in the race 2! For the “lesser impaired” category (minor disabilities) the Italian Samuele Bertolasio for the 1000cc category and the Spaniard Antonio Montoya Cazorla for the 600cc category confirmed their first position in both races. The Road Racing Commission presents the European Handy Bridgestone Cup The FIM Europe, together with the Road Racing Commission, is delighted to announce the new edition of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup. After the success of last year, Emiliano Malagoli (Di.Di Diversamente Disabily Non Profit Italy) and Stephane Paulus (HFR Non Profit France) are proud to announce the new edition of the Road Racing Championship dedicated to people with disabilities. FIM Europe supports the championship, that is more than a race: it’s a demonstration of courage and determination these guys had to start over despite their disability. The season will see four different dates, starting from the double round at Le Mans (together with FIM EWC), following by the race at Spa (always with the FIM EWC) and the final round at Jerez de la Frontera. European Bridgestone Iron Cup: final event at Mugello Circuit For eight years the organisation DIDI Diversamente Disabili and Handi Free Riders has been building together with FMI the circuit racing series The Iron Cup. The series is sponsored by Bridgestone, and it admits riders who are disabled. Behind the cup lies a dedicated work to bring back riders who have had an accident with the sport, as well as introducing disabled persons to circuit racing. For some years the series has been organised as a national Italian event but starting 2021 it is also a cup series under FIM Europe. The series is run in two classes, 600 cc and 1000 cc. The bikes have been modified to suit the individual rider who may have had an amputation, total plexus injury, paraplegia or another disability. European Bridgeston Iron Cup: the paralympic season started in Le Mans First round of the European Bridgestone Iron Cup on 10th and 11th June at historic Le Mans Circuit, in France. In class 1000 great performance by Austrian rider Peter Rohr, overall and class winner followed by Italian Maurizio Castelli and French Benoit Thibal. Emiliano Malagoli had to withdraw due to a technical problem a few corners before the finish line. In the Lesser Impaired category first place for Giacomo Tuseddu, while Umberto Troisi was unable to start due to a technical problem with his bike.

In class 600 won the Belgian Christophe Bernard ahead of home riders Willy Mourgue and Yann Boes. In the Lesser Impaired 600 class Samuele Bertolasio conquered the victory thanks to the help of his direct rival Antonio Montoya, who supplied him with some spare parts for the bike after a bad crash in qualifying.

The European Bridgestone Iron Cup debuts this weekend at historic Le Mans Everything is ready for the first round of the European Bridgestone Iron Cup, starting from this year recognized by FIM Europe. This weekend the historic Le Mans Circuit, in France, will host at closed doors the opening race of the calendar. This first round will see 29 riders with disabilities from Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Austria and the Czech Republic fight in the 600cc and 1000cc class.
