Second round of UEM Trial EC in Santo Stefano d’Aveto

aboutuemA superlative Matteo Grattarola (Gas Gas) dominated the second round of the UEM Trials Championship held at Santo Stefano d’Aveto, on the mountains behind Genova (Italy).

Grattarola gained soon a smooth lead on country mate Daniele Maurino (Ossa) in the first loop, scoring 6 points against 8. The twos even improved their already low scores in the second loop, finishing the competition as a photocopy of the first round, contested three months ago. Grattarola first, Maurino second. In the third step of podium Spanish Francesc Moret (Montesa).

Great hit for Italian Francesco Cabrini (Beta) in the Junior class. He won and in the standings he overtook the precedent leader, French Steven Coquelin (Gas Gas), today only in third, behind Spanish Oriol Noghera. Cabrini started very well, dropping only 7 marks at the turning point. All his rivals were quite distant. Coquelin scored 17 points, Noguera 19. In the second lap, Cabrini was afraid to throw away the victory as it happened at Varallo Sesia, but this time even if he doubled his score (14), his lead was sufficient to grasp his first win.

Absent the star Tommy Ahvala in the Over 40 class, Dutch Marc Reit (Beta), ex world rider, won easily, scoring just one point in the whole competition. To complete the Dutch success the second place of John Van Veelen (Ossa). In third Finnish Staffan Floessel (Sherco). The special trophy, brought by French Philippe Bontemps in memory of Diego Bosis went to Andrea Buschi, who, arriving in fourth place, was the first Italian in this class.

Next round will be held in Kreszowice (Poland) on the 12th of August.
