Road Racing

The European Championship Challenge (ECC) was held today in Zarnovica, Slovakia. Nearly 4000 spectators have seen a very well organized meeting with a fantastic line-up and very exciting speedway sport without any fall. After 20 heats victory was taken by Jurica Pavlic, HMS but 5 more riders have been tie on points on the place 2 to 6 and therefore run-offs have been necessary. Second place went to Roman Poman Povazny, MFR and third place to Grigory Laguta, MFR. 9 riders in total have qualified now from this Challenge in Zarnovica to the 4 Finals wich will be live broadcasted in Eurosport all over the world. The next round will be the first final of the Individual Speedway European Championship and it will be held in Gdansk (Poland). (FIM Europe Press Release 89/2013)  

The Final of the Team Speedway Under 21 European Championship was held yesterday in Opole (Poland). The winning team was Poland, which managed to win with the riders: Piotr Pawlicki, Artur Czaja, Pawel Przedpelski, Krystian Pieszczek and Bartosz Zmarlik. The third round of the Road Racing Hill Climbing European Championship was held this weekend in Chatel St Denis (France). The competition was held under difficult weather conditions: rainy weather all day for the trials, 8 degrees all day. On Sunday, the sun was shining all day. 9 degrees in the morning, 22 at the best of the day. All classes had good sporting results and there was fighting between many riders. 2 pilots got injured and The winners of the different categories were the following: Moto3/125GP: Giovanni Ronzoni (ITA, Honda) 250cc Open: Pierre Favre (FRA, Yamaha) Sidecar: Dichamp/Peugeot (FRA, LCR) Superbike: Uwe Rademacher (GER, Kawasaki) Supermoto Open: Jürgen SCHÖNLEITNER (AUT, Husqvarna) Supersport: Stefano Bonetti (ITA, FMI) Superstock 600: Jean-Noel Salvi (FRA, Honda) Superstock 1000: Jean-Noel Salvi (FRA, Honda) Next and final round is scheduled in Villers sous Chalamont (France) on the 20th and 21st of July.   (FIM Europe

The Final of the European Pairs Speedway Championship was held yesterday in the German track of Waldstadion Herxheim near Karlsruhe. The winners were the home riders (Smolinski, Wölbert and Dilger) in front of the Polish team (Ulamek, Kosciuch and Puskakowski) and third the Ukrainian team (Karpov, Loktaev and Melnychuk). The Semi-Final of the Team Speedway Under 21 European Championship was held yesterday in Divišov (Czech Republic). The Czech Republic team got the first position with the following riders Eduard KRČMÁŘ, Zdeněk HOLUB, Roman ČEJKA, Michal ŠKURLA, Václav MILÍK. Second position went to the Swedish team and third to the German team. The final of the European Championship will be held on the 6th of July in Opole (Poland). (UEM Press Release 77/2013)  

The Semi-Final 3 of the Individual Speedway European Championship was held yesterday in Mureck (Austria). First position went to Latvian rider Kjastas Poudzuks, second position to Danish Kenni Larsen and third position to Russian Grigoriy Laguta. The third and last Semi-Final of the Individual Speedway Junior European Championship was held in the French track of Macon. The winner was French David Bellago in front of Czech Vaclav Milik and third position to German Valentin Grobauer. The Final of the Individual Speedway Junior European Championship is scheduled on the 24th of August in Gustrow (Germany). (UEM Press Release 70/2013)    

The new Hill Climb Road Racing European Championship completed its second round this weekend at Imperia (Italy) with 42 riders enrolled for the European Championship. The twisty track between Carpasio and Prati Piani welcomed all riders with beautiful sunshine. But unfortunately both practice and race were accompanied by fog and mist. Finally the second heat of the race had to be canceled because of this reason. The winners of the different categories were the following: Moto3/125GP: Giovanni Ronzoni (ITA, Honda) 250cc Open: Pierre Favre (FRA, Yamaha) Sidecar: Oliver Dichamp/Vincent Peugeot (FRA, LCR) Superbike: Jean Noel Salvi (FRA, Honda) Supermoto Open: Luca Gottardi (ITA, Aprilia) Supersport: Stefano Manici (ITA, Triumph) Superstock 600: Francesco Curinga (ITA, FMI) Superstock 1000: Christophe Balmer (SUI, BMW) Next round is scheduled in Chatel St Denis (Switzerland) on the 29-30th of June. Also this year the Albacete track will host on the 5th and 6th of October the Road Racing European Championship to be held in a single event for riders of the Moto 3, Supersport 600cc. and Superstock 1000cc. classes. To the event will be admitted the first 5 qualified riders of each of the above mentioned classes in the national Open Championship of Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy plus the first four riders of the Regional Championships of the Nordic, Alpe Adria and Eastern Europe regions. The remaining participants will be chosen by the organizers after studying the applications received, as the regulations stipulate. The registration period is now open and ends on September. The fourth round of the Superstock 600cc Road Racing European Championship was held yesterday in Portimao (Portugal). The first Practice on Friday was running under perfect conditions, after the start of the second Qualifying on Saturday, the first drop of rain is coming and all riders come in to the pit. The Race Direction decided of Wet-Practice and on the end of the Qualifying the track was dry. The race was fought spectacularly among the first 4 riders! Every time changed the leader and on the end of the race the winner Franco Morbidelli (Italy/Kawasaki) was 0,06” before the second rider Gauthier Duwelz (BEL/Yamaha) and this 0,1” before the third Bastien Chesaux (SUI/Honda) The provisional rankings see the leadership of Gautier Duwelz with 77 points in front of Swiss Bastien Chesaux with 56 points.
