cristianBassi
Trial European Championship: Youth and Women Pietramurata's race Pau Martinez Spanish Pau Martinez (Vertigo) and Italian Alex Brancati (Beta) on top respectively in Youth and Women championship  classes in Pietramurata, Italy, first round of the FIM Europe Trial Championship. Dry terrain with the usual poor grip due to small rocks everywhere: this is the main feature of all the trials organized in the Trial Park of Pietramurata, and even this time sections resulted tricked for everybody. Martinez - after a first lap of studying this different soil -got confidence enough to assure a clear victory, scoring almost half points of runner-up British Jack Dance (Gas Gas): 42 against 72. More uncertain the situation behind the new Spaniard star. An other British's, Ben Dignan (Gas Gas) ended in third , two marks more than Dance and ahead of many riders separated by smooth gaps. Alex Brancati Favorite Brancati started a bit

Trial European Championship: the season starts in Pietramurata Matteo Grattarola The 28th edition of the Trial European Championship is on the go in the next week-end. The venue chosen is Pietramurata, near Trento in North-East of Italy: two days of competitions -  nevertheless it is Easter and in Italy this date does not seem so opportune – with almost 130 riders coming all over the Europe.  All the categories will be present. On Saturday the best Women and Youths will be on the scene, followed the day after by the most quoted riders belonging to the Championship, Junior and Over 40 classes. Not running for a title, but just for their fun, other riders will fight in the International classes: twos in both days. Alex Brancati This is the championship that has always represented a sort of rank from which all the great champions of recent years have passed. Just

Italian “triplette” in the other titles still to be assigned at Bilstain, Belgium, for the last round of the 2018 FIM Europe Trial Championship. Matteo Grattarola (Sembenini Montesa photo 1) is Champion in the Europe Class, the Junior Cup goes to Sergio Piardi (Beta photo 2) and the Over 40 Cup is propriety of Piero Sembenini (Montesa photo 3). It is the first time that 3 riders belonging to the same country triumph in all the three classes. What better place than the old area of Bilstain to celebrate this unusual event! Grattarola clinched his third Continental title and all on different bikes. In 2008 he gained the Junior Cup riding a Sherco 125cc, in 2012 he topped the Europe class on Gas Gas and now he brought home the 2018 title on a Montesa 4 stroke prepared by the Sembenini Nils team. Today he won easily, riding calmly strong

European Trial Championship at Bilstain (Belgium) – Day 1

Everything according to forecasts in the first day in Bilstain (Belgium), during the fifth and final round of the European Women’s and Youths’ Championships. Titles were assigned to two Spanish riders: Berta Abellan (Vertigo, photo 1) and Martin Riobo (Gas Gas). More than seventy riders honoured these series taking part in this last round, even if not directly interested to place themselves in the high positions. The old and famous private area of Bilstain continues to reserve a particular appeal to all the Trial World, because also new generations know through tales and documents how many pages of history have been written on these rocks. Berta Abellan closed her championship with a victory, but she had hard time to get it. Only in the second part of the competition she recovered from a provisional third place, having scored 8 points. Better than her Norwegian Ingveig Hakonsen (TRS), whose score was

The curtain is going to close on 2018 FIM Europe Championships and Cups in one of the most famous venue in the Trial world; the private area of Bilstain in Belgium, theater of important world events in the Eighties. Lately back in the scene as last year with two different rounds of the same championship, Bilstain is again ready to give its support. The place is very convenient for spectators: it is possible to watch all the sections in almost one square km and the big natural rocks – where the sections are drawn - are always challenging enough to ensure a high quality show. This year all the classes are going to be present. On Saturday Women and Youths, on Sunday Europe, Junior and Over40. Following the chronological order, the best trial female riders will be the first to start. Spanish Berta Abellan (Vertigo, photo1) seems to be very

European Trial Championship at Santo Stefano d’Aveto (Italy) – Day 2

matteoGrattarola
Italian Matteo Grattarola (Sembenini Montesa, photo1) won the fourth round of the FIM Europe Trial Championship and he is very close to be crowned, as his leadership increased to 75 points with one round left. French Kieran Touly (Sherco, photo2) and Italian Piero Sembenini (Montesa, photo3) triumphed in Junior and Over 40 classes. In the hottest days of the year, all the European riders appreciated the fresh breeze that Santo Stefano d'Aveto – a small village at almost 1000 mt on sea level, chosen for this penultimate round - offered. Grattarola - as we already announced - did not like easy sections and never as today he grasped the victory for a while and due to a big mistake of English Dan Peace (Gas Gas), able to control the situation until the last section of the last lap. Peace rode very well in the whole competition. He was leading at

European Trial Championship at Santo Stefano d’Aveto (Italy) – Day 1

Spanish Berta Abellan (Vertigo, photo1) and Italian Carlo Alberto Rabino (Beta, photo2) were one step above all in Day 1 of the fourth round of the European Trial Championship, held at Santo Stefano d’Aveto, Italy. Winners in Women's and Youths’ classes, respectively, scored almost half points than their most challenging rival. The young Spaniard girl decided to escape from her group of rivals. Taking advantage to be one of the first to start, she absolutely did not worry to open all the sections, rode for herself and gained the leadership at the turning point. Her score was 5, but Norwegian Ingveig Hakonsen (TRS) did as much as her a brilliant first lap, making just one more mistake. German Theresa Baeuml (Montesa) followed with 13 marks. In the second lap due to a very hot day all the girls were quite weary. Abellan limited her errors to 8 and it meant

Crucial moments for riders of all the classes of the FIM Europe Trial Championship as in the next two week-ends all titles will be assigned: in Italy and in Belgium the two chosen venues. At first the European riders are expected to enter at Santo Stefano d’Aveto, little village in the mountains behind Genova, where in 2012 one round of the FIM World Championship was held. Do not be frightened by the high temperatures that are crossing Italy - and not only - in these days. Santo Stefano d’Aveto is situated at almost 1000 mt of altitude, consequently some degrees less than any other part are guaranteed. As usual when all the categories are present, on Saturday Women’s and Youths’ Cups will be on the scene. Spanish Berta Abellan (Vertigo) will have to defend her smooth advantage on German Theresa Bauml (Montesa), but Italian Sara Trentini (Montesa), gratified by her

European Trial Championship, Over 40 and Junior Cup at Isola 2000 (France) – Day 2

tobyMartyn
Toby Martyn (Montesa, photo 1) beat his team mate Matteo Grattarola (photo 2) in the second day at Isola 2000, France, third round of the European Trial Championship. Sergio Piardi (Beta, photo 3) and Marcus Kipp (TRS, photo 4) on top in Junior and Over40 class respectively. Still sunny day and still rain in late evening the day before, so the sections dried during the day. Martyn - not too happy of his previous day’s performance - decided to ride quickly and ahead of the group of his rivals, probably in order not to be conditioned by the outcome of the others. And this decision was fruitful for him. He was soon leader at the first deliver of the card: 21 points. Grattarola underestimated some slippery sections and collected 4 ‘five’, ending the loop with 31 marks and was in fourth position, behind Francesc Moret (Montesa) who scored 28 and

European Trial Championship, Over 40 and Junior Cup at Isola 2000 (France) – Day 1

Italian riders swept in Isola 2000, France, for the second round of the FIM Europe Trial Championship. Matteo Grattarola (Sembenini Montesa, photo1), Sergio Piardi (Beta, photo2) and Alessandro Brocco (Scorpa, photo3) triumphed respectively in the European Championship and in the, Junior and Over40 class. In a sunny day the wonderful alpine scenario of this small village situated at 2000 mt of altitude stood out more than the usual. Despite forecasting rain in the afternoon, the weather remained almost the same, so many riders hurried up to finish before the rain, but is was worthless. On the contrary due to a heavy rain dropped the day before, some sections were still slippery in the first part of the competition and improved their grip in the second one. Grattarola did not choose any strategy. He was happy to find sections quite difficult because his skill is at the moment higher than any
