EMX 65 and 85 and Open at Mladina (Croatia)

The track of Mladina in Croatia was the venue of the fourth round of the EMX 65 and 85 South East Zone of the 2016 European Motocross Championship. It also hosted the fifth round of the Open class European Championship, with more than 2000 spectators present despite the bad weather since Saturday night. The EMX65 race 1 saw Romanian rider Marius Popovici (KTM) get out in front and dominate in front of Hungarian Laszlo Tecsi (KTM). Noel Zanocz (KTM), also from Hungary, was third in this race. Even tough Marius Popovici started in front also in the second race, a crash with another rider slowed him down and he had to settle for second place, while Laszlo Tecsi rode to victory. Bence Pergel (KTM) from Hungary managed to get his bike over the finish line in third place, with Noel Zanocz finishing in fourth place. The overall winner was Hungarian

European Moto2™ and Superbike at Barcelona (Spain) – Day 2

  Remy Gardner (AUS-Kalex) in Moto2™, and Carmelo Morales (SPA-Yamaha) in Superbike (respectively in photo 1 and 2) notched up victories in their respective categories in the fourth round of the FIM CEV Repsol this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. In Moto2™, Ricky Cardús (SPA-Transfiormers) won an eventful Moto2™ European Championship race. Right from the lights Remy Gardner (AUS-Kalex), who was a wildcard rider in last weekend’s Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, took the lead and pulled clear in the first lap. Dimas Ekky (INA-Kalex) and Alan Techer (FRA-NTS NH-6) were involved in a fall, while Ricky Cardús, Eric Granado (BRA-Kalex), Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex) and Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex) formed the chasing group.Remy Gardner was forced out by a mechanical problem while he was clear leader and Ricky Cardús took over the front. European SM 85, S3 and Open Supermoto Championships at Pleven (Bulgaria)

Pleven (Bulgaria) hosted the second round of 2016 FIM Europe SuperMoto Championship for classes SM 85, S3 and Open. The event gathered about 2500 spectators and the weather was partially cloudy with temperatures around 25 degrees. In Race1 of Open class Bulgarian Yanko Tashev (TM) did the best start from the second position and took the lead, followed by Alexsander Georgiev (KTM, Bulgaria). For half of the race they were wheel to wheel, but in the middle part of of the race Georgiev made a mistake and crashed, losing more than 10 seconds. Tashev was therefore the winner, Georgiev (in the photo) second and Borislav Stoimenov (KTM, Bulgaria) third.Race2 started almost in the same way, with Tashev leading in the turn 1, but this time Georgiev managed to overtake him already in the second corner and then extended the lead lap by lap, winning the race. European Supermoto S2 at Busca (Italy) - Day 2

Busca (Italy) 12 June 2016 – In sunny warm conditions and in front of a big crowd  Diego Monticelli took his first win of the season in the S2 European Championship. In the S2 class the second man in the European championship Giovanni Bussei was absent in Busca, which gave Suzuki Grau rider Petr Vorlicek the chance to extend his lead in the championship. When the light dropped at the start of the first race it was Italian TM Factory Racing rider Diego Monticelli who took the holeshot for the first time this season followed by Gazza Racing rider Devon Vermeulen, Petr Vorlicek. These three riders managed to create a gap in the beginning of the race to Lorenzo Promutico who was riding in fourth place. European Moto2™ and Superbike at Barcelona (Spain)

Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex) in Moto2™ and Carmelo Morales (SPA-Yamaha) in Superbike lead the starting grids of their respective categories in the fourth round of the FIM CEV Repsol this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where last week’s Grand Prix Monster de Catalunya was held. In Moto2™, Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex, in the photo) took his first pole this season after setting a time of 1'50.566 in a close qualifying session with Remy Gardner (AUS-Kalex) 0.181 behind and Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex ) just 0.022 behind the Australian. The AGR Team rider set the same time as Ricky Cardús (SPA-Transformers), riding a unique machine for team Promoto Sport, but Odendaal will start in front as he set a faster time than the Spanish rider in the first qualifying session.With Jacopo Cretaro (ITA-Yamaha) absent, recovering from injuries sustained in the pileup of the last race of the Moto2™ European Championship at MotorLand Aragon,

European Supermoto S2 at Busca (Italy)

 At the international Kart Planet circuit the European S2 Championship is held this weekend. Spectators already found their way to the track on Saturday and enjoyed the training sessions in cloudy but good weather conditions. In S2 it was Italian rider Diego Monticelli who was the fastest on his TM.The first two races of the S2 European Championship showed already that the two Czech riders, Suzuki Grau rider Petr Vorlicek and Honda rider Milan Sitniansky, are very strong this year. In absence of Giovanni Bussei this was their chance to do good business in the Championship. In the first free practice in Busca it was Honda rider Milan Sitniansky who set the fastest time in lap 19. Just 00.135 seconds behind Sitniansky it was Suzuki Grau rider Petr Vorlicek who set the second time before Gazza Honda Racing rider Devon Vermeulen for who it was his first race in the

FIM Europe mourns Kenneth Throndsen’s departure

FIM Europe mourns Kenneth Throndsen’s departure: a member in the Norwegian Drag Bike Commission,  Kenneth was born August 23 1955. He had been involved in Drag Bike since the mid 80's and was holder of licenses for both motorcycles and cars. He worked as technical scrutineer both in Norway and abroad, and was asked to be Jury President during the Grand Opening at Gardermoen raceway from 3rd to 7th of August 2016. Due to his academic and technical strength and recognition in Drag Bike community, the Norwegian Motorsport Federation was asked to nominate him as a member of Drag Bike Commission in FIM Europe. There, he served as technical expert and was a positive contributor to the development of Drag Bike in Europe. “Yesterday came the incredible sad news that Kenneth Throndsen has passed away after a short illness”, stated Lin Granlund, chairwoman of the Norwegian Drag Bike Commission. “Kenneth

FIM Europe congratulates SMC for Road Safety activities

The Swedish Motorcyclist Association (SMC), which in Sweden takes care of all non-sporting motorcycling aspects, has always been interested in finding ways to improve Road Safety of Swedish motorcyclists. In the latest days, they signed a very important agreement with the most outstanding motorcycle brands in Swedish market, in order to give to all the buyers of a new motorcycle the possibility to take part to a free safe-ride training course, according to the standards defined by ACEM (Association of European Motorcycle Industry)."The FIM Europe considers this initiative a very good sample of ‘best practice’, which should be adopted as much as possible in all European contests", stated Silvio Manicardi, FIM Europe second Deputy President.

European Endurance Cup at Magny Cours (France)

The circuit of Magny Cours hosted the first edition of the European Endurance Cup. It was a 12 hours race, which was followed by 16.100 spectators. The long weekend started from Thursday, with free practice. On Friday, qualifying practice saw Gauthier Duwelz of BMRT 3D-1 Team catch the pole position with his best lap in 1'47''558 on his Kawasaki, on a slightly wet track.Second position in qualifying for Motostand Endurance Team, at almost 2 seconds from the pole-man. On Saturday evening, after the first 6 hours of race and 195 laps, the leader was the Motostand Endurance Team with Baptiste Regouby and Antoine Viellard, at their first 12 Hours of Magny Cours. Poleman Gauthier Duwelz did the fastest lap time in the first 6 hours of race, too, in 1'45''450, but finished the day in 5th position due to technical problems.
