EMX 65, 85 South West Zone at Fernao Joanes (Portugal)

The circuit of Fernao Joanes/Guarda in Portugal hosted the last round of the EMX 65 and EMX 85 South West Zone Motocross European Championships. On very good track conditions, 45 riders in the two classes took the start in front of around 3.000 spectators (27 riders in EMX 65 and 18 in EMX 85). The weather was sunny and warm for the whole weekend.EMX 65 (photo1)In Race1 it the winner was Spanish female rider Daniela Guillen, who arrived at the finish line in front of her compatriot Victor Puig and Italian Simone Pavan. In Race2 Pablo Gutierrez from Spain won finishing before Daniela Guillen and Victor Puig, with a Spanish podium. In the overall Daniela Guillen won in front of Victor Puig and Simone Pavan.Since this was the last race of the season for the SW Series, the winner is Spanish Pablo Gutierrez on KTM, with 164 points, in front

European 600 Supersport at Misano (Italy)

 In the same starting grid as the 8th World Supersport race of Misano (Italy), the 6th round of the European 600 Supersport Cup was held. The leader of the FIM Europe Supersport Cup Alessandro Zaccone, after a quick but aggressive start, started to fall through the order before eventually being forced to pull into the pits with a technical problem. The winner was Axel Bassani, Zaccone’s team mate in San Carlo Team Italia: the sixteen year old rider finished the World Supersport race in  8th position. On the European podium with him, his compatriot Davide Stirpe and Ukrainian rider Ilya Mikhalchik.WorldSSP will now head into the summer ahead of their next time on track at Lausitzring in Germany, as the intermediate class don’t travel to Laguna Seca for Round 9. With the title all to play for, the focus for the Supersport grid before Germany will undoubtedly remain on one thing: training.

European Junior Cup at Misano (Italy)

 Hannes Soomer (Auto24Ring) has taken a dominant win in today’s WilSport European Junior Cup, powered by Honda, at the Misano World Circuit in Italy. The 18-year-old from Tallin, Estonia, put together a performance in all ways similar to the one shown two rounds ago at Assen, as he gradually pulled away from the chasing pack to cross the line with a 1.5secs margin on second-placed Mika Perez (Granshagen Racing Team), who was victorious last time out at Donington Park.The young Spaniard won the battle for the middle step of the podium after an entertaining battle for honours, which at some point involved up to six riders. Hungary’s Richard Bodis (H-Moto Team) rounded out the top 3 for what has been his maiden podium in 2016, while teammates Paolo Grassia and Alfonso Coppola (Chiodo Moto Racing) completed the top 5.Avalon Biddle (Avalon Biddle Racing) claimed her so-far best overall EJC in

EMX 150 at Matterley Basin (UK) – Day 2

  Another strong performance saw Emil Weckman take a fast-paced race two victory in round two of the Honda 150 European Championship at Matterley Basin (UK), and with it the red plate. Although Weckman missed out on the holeshot again, this time to Rasmus Moen, and was fifth at the start of the first lap it didn’t take long for the reigning champion to move up into second behind James Scott. The pair battled hard for the opening laps before Weckman managed to pass Scott and start to open up a lead.Towards the end of the race Scott joined Weckman in lapping in the 2:16’s on their CRF150Rs and started to pull back the gap to the #1 plated rider. Unfortunately with only two laps to go it was too much for the New Zealander to do, who was forced to settle for second.Hakon Fredriksen, who needed a good result

EMX 150 at Matterley Basin (United Kingdom)

Today saw Emil Weckman take an emphatic win at the Matterley Basin track in the UK, which has moved him into the championship lead ahead of tomorrow’s second race. Although Weckman (FIN) was first to the finish line, it was James Scott (NZL) who took the holeshot and set the pace on the first lap. Unfortunately the New Zealander crashed at the end of the first lap gifting Emil the lead going into the second lap.Weckman was then able to open up a gap to the second placed Luis Outeiro and stay in front until the chequered flag. The Finn also took the honours of fastest lap aboard his #1 plated CRF150R. Luis Outeiro was also able to maintain his second place until the end of the moto.Yago Martinez, who was quick around the Winchester track last year, proved that he’s one to keep an eye on with an impressive

EMX 65, 85 South East Zone and Open at Globare (Serbia)

The EMX 65 and 85 South East Zone and the EMX Open Championship are held this weekend on a beautiful track in the Serbian city of Globare.  The weather was extremely hot today with over 30°C during qualifying races.   EMX 65 classMarius Popovici from Romania won the qualifying race followed by Hungarian Bence Pergel in second place. The championship leader Matija Sterpin was not able to maintain the same speed as the first two riders and he finished in third position. EMX 85 class Hungarian rider Adam Kovacs won the qualifying race in front of his compatriot Jakob Kristof. The championship leader Nikola Hranic from Croatia finished in third position. EMX OPEN classThe championship leader Martin Michek fought for the first position in qualifying with Petr Bartos. At the end it was Michek to win the qualifying race in front of Petr Bartos and of Croatian Matija Kelava.

European Sidecar at Loppersum, The Netherlands

The European Sidecar Championship was held at Loppersum, in The Netherlands, and it was a great event in front of a 2000 strong crowd. Action was packed in the afternoon with 12 elimination heats for A, B and C finals. Local pair Wilfred Detz and Henk Auwema from The Netherlands won after hard fought battle in the A final. French pair Guillaume Comblon and Chloé Agez finished in second position and Shaun Harvey and Daniel Hogg (UK) climbed on the third step of the podium.Unfortunately, local hero Dennis Noordman was injured in a crash during the practice and ended up with a fractured foot. Dutch hosts organised a quiet spectacular event, which pleased the local crowd, especially after local team beating all competitors. EMX 65 and 85 and Open at Mladina (Croatia)

The track of Mladina in Croatia was the venue of the fourth round of the EMX 65 and 85 South East Zone of the 2016 European Motocross Championship. It also hosted the fifth round of the Open class European Championship, with more than 2000 spectators present despite the bad weather since Saturday night. The EMX65 race 1 saw Romanian rider Marius Popovici (KTM) get out in front and dominate in front of Hungarian Laszlo Tecsi (KTM). Noel Zanocz (KTM), also from Hungary, was third in this race. Even tough Marius Popovici started in front also in the second race, a crash with another rider slowed him down and he had to settle for second place, while Laszlo Tecsi rode to victory. Bence Pergel (KTM) from Hungary managed to get his bike over the finish line in third place, with Noel Zanocz finishing in fourth place. The overall winner was Hungarian

European Moto2™ and Superbike at Barcelona (Spain) – Day 2

  Remy Gardner (AUS-Kalex) in Moto2™, and Carmelo Morales (SPA-Yamaha) in Superbike (respectively in photo 1 and 2) notched up victories in their respective categories in the fourth round of the FIM CEV Repsol this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. In Moto2™, Ricky Cardús (SPA-Transfiormers) won an eventful Moto2™ European Championship race. Right from the lights Remy Gardner (AUS-Kalex), who was a wildcard rider in last weekend’s Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, took the lead and pulled clear in the first lap. Dimas Ekky (INA-Kalex) and Alan Techer (FRA-NTS NH-6) were involved in a fall, while Ricky Cardús, Eric Granado (BRA-Kalex), Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex) and Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex) formed the chasing group.Remy Gardner was forced out by a mechanical problem while he was clear leader and Ricky Cardús took over the front.
