FIM Europe at Norwegian Motorcycle Federation’s centenary

Above, from the left: Roy Øwre, Martin de Graaff, Emilie Westbye (head of NMF Motorcycling) and Dr Wolfgang Srb, FIM Europe President.On Friday 5th and Saturday 6th August the Norwegian Motorcycle Federation celebrated its centenary in Oslo.   The prestigious City Hall in Oslo, home of the Nobel Awards ceremony, hosted the official celebration in presence of the people who participated in the recent history of the NMF, the representatives of the international and continental motorcycling and nearby Federations. In fact, to celebrate the event together with the President of the FMN Roy Øwre and the Secretary General Roy Wetterstad there were the former Presidents NMF Svendsrud Tore, Tore Kittelsen, Per Madsen, Terje Rønning and Lene Fevang, the former FIM President Jos Vassen, the FIM Representative Jos Driessen, the FIM Europe Europe Dr Wolfgang Srb with the 1st Deputy President Martin de Graaff, the Vice-President Juhani Halme and the Secretary General Alessandro

Individual Speedway Euro Championship at Daugavpils (Latvia) – Final 2

The city of Daugavpils, in Latvia, hosted the Individual Speedway Euro Championship, with 18 riders at the start in front of 6.000 spectators. Despite the threat of heavy rain the meeting was completed with only a small amount of rain, with good luck as heavy rain fell immediately after the last heat.The races were of an excellent standard, with several overtakings in almost every heat.The local supporters were kept happy with some good displays by the Latvian riders, Maksims Bogdanovs reaching the final as a wild card. His luck ran out as he crashed in the first staging of the final, and was disqualified. European Trial at Sokolov (Czech Republic) – Day 1

Photos: @Phototrial.it British Iwan Roberts (Beta, photo1) managed to beat Spanish Miquel Gelabert (Sherco) by one single point in the fourth round of the 2016 European Trial Championship, held in Sokolov, Czech Republic. Both started very well and got a smooth lead on all the others after the first lap, in which Roberts scored 5 marks against the still good 7 points of Gelabert. In the 15 sections to repeat twice, the best ones behind them were two riders with 14 penalties:  British Toby Martyn (Beta) and Norwegian Ib Vegard Andersen (Beta). Only eighth place for the other favorite, runner-up in the overall standings, Dan Peace (Gas Gas) with 20 points. In the second loop Gelabert tried to recover his 2 points of distance from the top, which led him to partial success, scoring one point less than leader Roberts who kept the first place and gained his first victory

EMX Honda 150 Championship at Frauenfeld-Gachnang (Switzerland) – Day1

Emil Weckman, defending champion, took the moto one victory at the all-new track of Frauenfeld in Switzerland today. The young Finn was initially beaten to the holeshot by Rasmus Moen, before making the overtake on the second corner. Weckman was then able to lead the race from start to finish aboard his CRF150R.The fight for second, third and fourth raged throughout the moto between Henry Vesilind, Yago Martinez and Hakon Fredriksen. The three young riders battled through the muddy conditions with Martinez and Fredriksen looking strong during the second half of the race.Despite closing the gap to second placed Vesilind, neither Martinez nor Fredriksen could close the gap enough to gain position. At the chequered flag Vesilind had done enough for second, while Martinez and Fredriksen finished third and fourth respectively.A good battle was also seen between Leopold Ambjornson, Lenaic Pilorget and Rasmus Moen (who unfortunately lost a few places

ITP EMX Quadcross at Kivioli (Estonia) – Day1

The sixth and last round of the European ITP Quad Championship is being held this weekend at Kivioli, in Estonia. The track was very well prepared, like the years before. Only the weather was very different: not hot and dry as usual but wet and rainy. It has been raining since last night, in today in the afternoon the rain stopped from time to time. 25 ITP Quads were present at the qualifying and practice and 23 in the qualifying. On the top position in the tomorrow's starting grids we will see (Mike van Grinsven (NED), followed by Kevin Saar (EST), 0,137s behind and Edgars Mengelis, (LAT), + 0,544s.The championship leader Adrian Mangieu (FRA) gained only the fourth position, with a delay of 1,297s, in front of Daniil Vlasov (RUS) + 1,543s.               The most astonishing performance was that of the young Estonian Kevin Saar, who, with his second position, is

Vintage Road Racing European Championship at Donington Park (UK)

The first day of the UK round of the Road Race Vintage Championship was held at a sun kissed Donington Park yesterday. Qualifying took place before lunch followed by a ten race programme during the afternoon.  Outstanding rides came from Hasse Gustafson (900 Ducati) in Class 7a and Jeff Smith (200cc Bridgestone) in class 2, who won their races in great style.  In the photo, Bernd Pollman, who leads the 350 Championship and was seen here at speed on the 350 Aermacchi.Today sees the second set of the European Championship races before the final day of the meeting on Sunday.

THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP EMX300 WILL BE BACK IN 2017

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) – Following the release of the provisional calendar for the 2017 FIM Motocross World Championship, which did not include the European Championship EMX300 as a support class, it was bought to Youthstream’s attention that a large number of manufacturers, teams, riders, partners and fans would like to see the EMX300 championship continue. Due to its increase in popularity over the last few years, Youthstream have agreed to add the European Championship EMX300 class to the 2017 MXGP calendar. FIM Europe President, Dr Wolfgang Srb said: "I am very happy about this solution. The EMX300 class has developed very well and it is good for all of the parties involved that this European class remains within the FIM Motocross World Championship".

EUROPEAN MOTOBALL AT BUDEL (THE NETHERLANDS) DAY 5

The city of Budel, in the Netherlands, is hosting the European Motoball Championship. Yesterday, the Day 5 of the series was held and five matches were played. Ukraine-Belarus 3-7 Ukraine managed to do a good game, but did not get any positive results. Belarus took their points and won the game by 3-7. Ukraine still has no points in this championship and stands in the last place, behind Lithuania by goal difference. France-Lithuania 3-1 Both teams started the game slowly and carefully, because both had two matches to face in the same day. France scored in the second quarter, but Lithuania quickly managed to score their first goal in this championship and at half-time the result was 1-1. But in the second half of the game France scored two goals and Lithuania was not able to reply.

The Spanish rider Miquel Gelabert (Sherco), who recently took part also to the British GP of the world championship, will do his best to defend his smooth advantage as leader of the 2016 FIM Europe Trial Championship. Rounds #4 and #5 are scheduled for the upcoming weekend in Sokolov, Czech Republic. To contest him, first of all Dan Peace (Gas Gas) coming from constantly upgrading results in the lately world rounds, so in great form. Between the two there are just 5 points and Peace can count on two victories against the only one in the Spaniard's bag.
