Individual Speedway Euro Championship at Daugavpils (Latvia) – Final 2

glaguta-kylmakoerpi7544The city of Daugavpils, in Latvia, hosted the Individual Speedway Euro Championship, with 18 riders at the start in front of 6.000 spectators.

Despite the threat of heavy rain the meeting was completed with only a small amount of rain, with good luck as heavy rain fell immediately after the last heat.
The races were of an excellent standard, with several overtakings in almost every heat.
The local supporters were kept happy with some good displays by the Latvian riders, Maksims Bogdanovs reaching the final as a wild card. His luck ran out as he crashed in the first staging of the final, and was disqualified.
Grigorij Laguta made the most of the re-run to pass Joonas Kylmakorpi and take the win in front of Joonas Kylmäkorpi and Emil Sayfutdinov.

The standings at the half way point are very close, with only 5 points separating 14 riders. It builds up to an exciting final 2 rounds of SEC.
The next round will be held on August 20th at Togliatti, in Russia.
