FIM Europe: Road Safety on top of the agenda

The themes of road incidentality, of industry responses and initiatives, of the systems to improve Road Safety, of 2-wheeler behaviour and safety have been of prior importance for FIM Europe since its foundation and every year during the FIM Europe Congress a Road Safety Conference is organized with the aim to focus on these important themes.Mr. John Chatterton-Ross, Director of Public Affairs in FIM Europe and in FIM, was recently interviewed by  RACC - Royal Automobile Club of Catalunya on the themes of Road Safety. (The video can been watched here). “This covers the major issues facing road safety for riders”, states Mr John Chatterton Ross. “The need for fair enforcement of the traffic rules on all road users. FIM Europe 2nd Workshop on Leadership

FIM Europe will organize the 2nd Workshop on Leadership, addressed to the leaders of the FMNs Executive Staff: the Secretaries General. After the first, successful, edition, which took place in Maggiora (Italy), in November 2013, the second Workshop will be held in two sessions in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) on 27-29 March and on 22–24 November 2015. Participation and accommodation will be completely free of charge for all participants in the Hotel Sherry Park (www.hotelsherrypark.com). In fact, thanks to the FIM appointment of Jerez as World Capital of Motorcycling, the Municipality of Jerez has granted the opportunity to organize this important workshop without costs for the FIM Europe and the participants of its FMNs. European Snowcross Championship: 2nd round in Norway

The second round of European Snowcross Championship was held today in Vestre Slide, close to the ski station of Fagernes, Norway.The beautiful permanent circuit "Valdress Crossenter" was prepared very well, the weather was cloudy and the temperature was around -5°C all day long. The Norges Motorsportforbund (NMF) organized two support races, one dedicated to youth class and another to the woman class.The qualifying practice was dominated by the Norwegian Kristoffer Holm with Polaris; in second position Viktor Herten from Finland with Lynx.    In the first race of the day, after 4 laps the leader was the Finnish Viktor Herten, who won ahead of Magnus Sagen Reiten and Ole-Herman Hagen Sjogren, both from Norway.In the second race the podium changed completely: the winner was Kristoffer Holm, with Fredrick Kirkhus in second position, both from Norway. FIM Europe gives full support to “Ride Quiet!” campaign for Off-Road

  On the occasion of the start of 2015 Motocross World Championship, its promoter Youthstream and FIM have launched a new campaign entitled “Ride Quiet!” in order to create awareness of the need to reduce sound levels. A video clip has also been produced (which can be seen here) , with the participation of several top riders, to encourage off-road riding and help to preserve it for future generations to enjoy. The message of "Ride Quiet!" campaign is to ensure that off-road sport does not antagonise the local community, which might lead to the closing of circuits.«FIM Europe gives full support to this important campaign», stated Dr Wolfgang Srb, FIM Europe President. «In fact, we have to assume responsibility: FIM Europe is the biggest Continental Union of FIM; comprising 47 National Motorcycle Federations and organizing approximately 75% of all FIM activities. Visit to SVEMO for one of the best practices

A modern administration must research constantly means to improve its own procedures for increasing efficiency and for granting a better supply of the offered services.Definitely with this purpose, on the 24th and 25th February, a FIM Europe delegation, made up of the Secretary General Alessandro Sambuco and the Administration Department manager Silvia Monatti, has visited SVEMO headquarters in Norrköping (Sweden). The main topic of the meeting has been the presentation by the SVEMO staff, directed by their Secretary General Per Westling, of the "SVEMO Race Administration System".   Despite best efforts made by FIM Europe and for reasons outside of their control, it is with great regret that the Ucraine Motorcycling Federation has had to cancel two events:- the round of Individual Speedway European Championship that was scheduled to be held at Rivne 15-16 May 2015 - the round of European Pairs Speedway Championship that was scheduled to be held in Chervonograd 24-25 April 2015. Individual Ice Racing European Championship

The final of the Individual Ice Racing European Championship was held this weekend in two different rounds in Lukhovitsy, Russia, in good, sunny weather conditions with a temperature slightly above zero.After two days of exciting heats with perfect prepared track on a very high sporting level the numerous spectators have seen the victory of a very strong Russian Sergey Karachintsev, who has been crowned the new European Champion. Strong and hard but fair fight on the following places brought Russian Nikita Toloknov up to the second place and vice-champion title.Third place went to the local rider Sergey Makarov (Russia).Full results on www.fim-europe.com

Snowmobile Enduro European Cup Champions crowned in Finland

Finland hosted this weekend the Snowmobile Enduro European Cup of the season. In middle of Finland, in Karstula, the weather circumstances were surprisingly good: at the beginning of the week, in fact, it looked like the warm weather would affect the stages. But on Saturday the weather was pretty good with 0° Celsius and on Sunday luckily the rain that was expected came out as snow. On Saturday 63 riders from three different Countries (Finland, Estonia, Sweden) competed in four different special stages for a total of 140 kilometres. After some retirements on Sunday it was 50 riders who fought for the championships at three stages for a total of 110 kilometres. In the end it was 42 riders who managed to cross the finish line.Heli Takkinen from Finland won the Women series, Niki Nummijoki the Junior, Jukka Järvenpää was fastest at the Senior AC class, Lauri Pellonpää at Senior

European Snowcross Championship started in Norway

  The first race of the season of the European Snowcross Championship was held in Granåsen, Trondheim (Norway) today. The whole day was broadcast in live-stream. On a perfectly prepared track, free and qualifying practice sessions were held, and the pole position went to Peter Ericson, from Sweden, ahead of  Kristoffer Holm, from Norway.In the first race the fastest rider was Magnus Sagen Reiten, from Norway, followed by Kristoffer Holm, from Norway, too, with Swedish Peter Ericson in third place.In the second race Peter Ericson was the first over the finish line, in front of Magnus Sagen Reiten and Ole-Herman Hagen Sjøgren from Norway. In the final race today the first rider over the finish line was Peter Ericson followed by Viktor Hertén, from Finlan, ahead of Ole-Herman Hagen Sjøgren.
