European Trial Championship in Luserna (Italy) - Day 2

Steven Coquelin - Photo by Mario Candellone Steven Coquelin (Gas Gas) got his revenge and topped the Europe class, but Gianluca Tournour (Gas Gas) finishing in second place, stretched his advantage in the overall standings. The third round of the FIM Europe Trial Championship was held on the same place and same loop as the day before, in Luserna San Giovanni, Italy. The heavy showers dropped in the night before made all the sections in the wood more difficult. Moreover one section was also modified by organizers on behalf of a decision taken by the Jury Meeting, to make it harder, as the best riders wished to have. As result in many sections very few riders were able to pass it "clean". The winner was the first to start and took a slight advantage because he found the rocks not too dirty by the mud drawn by the previous riders. Thanks to

European Grass Track Final in Staphorst (The Netherlands)

Spectators from the Netherlands, Germany, France and England were promised a thrilling and exciting racing evening at Staphorst (Netherlands) last weekend and that’s exactly what they saw. Despite a hot and sunny day, the club worked hard to produce a very fast race track that gave the spectators an excellent evenings racing at the FIM Europe Grass Track Individual European Final.The eighteen competitors – who had qualified for this event via two previous semi-final rounds earlier in the season – quickly adapted to the conditions which produced some very fast and furious racing.As the meeting progressed, the track conditions improved, and it became difficult to predict who would be the eventual winner. However once all the qualifying heats had been completed, home rider Jannick De Jong emerged as the hot favourite, although he was beaten once by the exciting young 17 year old English rider James Shanes.With the sun starting

Tim Wunderer For almost 20 years the Motorsportclub Olching had not held any international championships, so the Youth Gold Trophy was quite an exciting challenge for the new organisation team which had only been elected this year. Chairman Stefan Lochner and his team were really well prepared and the officials were excited as the whole event went off without a hitch.The weather conditions were almost perfect for the event - only in the end of the race day, just before the award ceremony started, a cloudburst appeared and the youngsters and officials were drenched with rain.The locals were especially excited about seeing their club rider Tim Wunderer on his home track. The 14 year old rider from Grießbeckerzell (near Augsburg) is one of the most promising young talents in German Speedway. European Open 65cc Motocross in El Molar (Spain) – Day 1

EL MOLAR (Spain), 18 July 2015 - The fast and flowing track built on the rolling countryside of El Molar, Spain got the ball rolling for the European Open 65cc Championship today. In stifling hot and extremely dry conditions, the young racers gave it their all on the rock hard clay in bid for the top qualifying positions and early advantage for the main event tomorrow.It was a surprise start to the weekend for JD19 KTM Racing TE’s Adam Kovacs who had his little 65cc wide open here in El Molar. Kovacs (in the photo by Youthstream) said he struggled with the heat a little bit and couldn’t believe he set the fastest lap time after landing hard off of a jump and breaking his bike. In a very hot and humid Saturday the European Trial circus showed up again after more than three months but the riders fighting for the top places in all the classes were still the same. In the Champ class, due to the very dry terrain and the ability to draw the sections showed by the organizers, that considered the non stop rules, the top riders' scores were very low. FIM Europe welcomes action in favour of safer motorcycling by Brussels

On 14th July the European Parliament transport committee voted on a report (and amendments) that will revise the 2011 White Paper on Transport. This statement was adopted:“Motorcycles play a significant role in sustainable mobility, especially in urban areas where they contribute to tackling congestion and parking problems”.They certainly do in Rome where 700,000 are in regular use, and in Barcelona which has the second largest parc of powered two wheelers after Rome. In north European cities too there is increasing use of motorcycles. So what does the European Parliament propose? A White paper is a framework that sets the agenda. Parliament wants action to improve roads. Not just the highways, but urban and rural roads where ninety percent of fatal collisions occur.    Other proposals include improved driver training for professional drivers, and promotion of post licence training for all road users. – FIM Europe welcomes this as many of our

European Trial Championship in Luserna (Italy) – Preview

Gianluca Tournour in a photo by Mario Candellone Everything is almost ready in Luserna San Giovanni, near Turin, Piedmont, North-West of Italy to host the second and third round of the 2015 FIM Europe Trial Championship.  On 18th and on 19th of July all the riders fighting for the three championships more blazoned are joining together again after more than three months, when in Pietramurata, Trentino, they met for the first round of the season. In Italy as in many South European Countries Summer is very hot. Luserna San Giovanni is is located 500 meters above the sea level and the highest part of the loop is at about 1000 mt, so two hot days are expected but with little breeze.  And fortunately 13 sections out of 15 were drawn in a shadowed zone, under some trees.  The 9 km long circuit has three group of sections. European Mini Road Racing Championship – Preview

The European Championship of Mini Road Racing was held the past five years in an One-Event format across Europe: in 2014 in Cheb (CZE), in 2013 in Vransko (SLO), in 2012 in Zuera (SPA), in 2011 in Juvaincourt (FRA), in 2010 in Wittgenborn (GER), in 2009 in Ottobiano (ITA). This year there will be two rounds with again three races per event. The first round will take place from 31st July till 2nd of August in Pomposa (Italy). The special features for this venue are two separate circuits – one for Mini Moto (Pocket Bike) of 480 meters and one for Mini GP (Mini Bike) of 1.200 meters. The second and final round will take place two weeks later from 14th to 16th of August at Assen (NED). The new venue from Assen offers different layouts and shortcut possibilities. European Supermono Cup in Zolder (Belgium)

Lukas Wimmer was the big winner of the two FIM Europe Supermono Cup races at the Begium circuit of Zolder. Guest rider and former multiple Superbike Champion Arie Vos from the Netherlands took a third and second place on the 690 KTM Super Duke. In race1 (8 laps) held on Saturday afternoon with sunny and warm weather (32°C) Lukas Wimmer from Austria took a decisive victory with an appropriate advantage (3.7 seconds) on Dutch Rotax rider Jerry van de Bunt.Guest rider Arie Vos who missed the prestart and had to start from behind had a blistering start but could not join the two leaders and had a thrilling battle with Austrian Josef Frauenschuh for third place. Allan Ostli onboard his JSB Ducati had to pull in with technical problems. Meanwhile Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Damon Graulus put his sand skills to good use for the EMX250 round seven overall, and his first round win of the season.In contrast to the dry and fluffy sand the riders faced in race one yesterday, conditions were considerably tougher today for race two thanks to the weather gods letting loose on the picturesque circuit of Kegums.
