European Drag Racing Championship at Wellingborough (United Kingdom)

The first European Drag Racing Championship and Cup race of the year started in Santa Pod, England this bank holiday weekend. The track was very well and professionally prepared by the Santa Pod Crew. The first round on Saturday showed us that this track was capable of some record breaking racing. During the second qualification round, Top Fuel Bike rider Iian King from Great Britain made a low pass at 5.8 sec. Also Super Street Bike rider Steve Venables, from Great Britain, too, broke the 7 seconds barrier with a stunning 6,9 seconds pass.  Qualification ended with Ian King  as top qualifier in Top Fuel Bike, Samu Kemppainen from Finland as top qualifier in Super Twin, Gert-Jan Laseur from The Netherlands as top qualifier in Pro Stock Bike and Steve Venables as top qualifier in the Super Street Bike Cup.The race day was Monday, and it started with small rain

EMX 65 and 85 NW at Imatra (Finland)

In the weekend of 28-29 May the last event of North West European Motocross 65 and 85 cc Championship was held in Imatra (Finland), organised by Imatran Moottorikerho R.Y. Both racing days benefitted from light cloudy weather, which allowed 500 spectators to watch the event live in the track. After the technical control there were 22 riders in the EMX65 class and 23 riders in the EMX85 class. EMX65The first heat of this class was won by Czech rider Adam Maj, 4 seconds before Tomas Pikart (also from Czech Republic) and 6 seconds before Dutch rider Bradley Mesters. The second heat was dominated by the Danish rider Mads Fredsoe, 11 seconds before Maximillian Werner (Germany) and 23 seconds before Kasimir Hindersson (Finland). European Junior Cup at Donington (Great Britain)

The third race of the 2016 WIL Sport European Junior Cup, powered by Honda, was won by Spain’s Mika Perez (Granshagen Racing Team), who crossed the line at the end of the 11-lap race at Donington Park with a 0.7s margin over his nearest rival, Dorian Laville (Team Laville Mi&Do) from France. Paolo Grassia (Chiodo Moto Racing) completed the podium in third by edging out teammate and fellow Italian Alfonso Coppola and South Africa’s Dorren Louriero (Family Fitness Racing). Assen race winner Hannes Soomer (Auto24Ring) was en route to a second consecutive victory but ran wide on lap nine; the young Estonian rider made an incredible save and avoided a high-speed crash against the tyre barriers at Coppice, before re-joining and finishing sixth. EMX125, 250 and 300 at Talavera de la Reina (Spain)

  It was like re-living the good old days at the grass-roots style track here in Spain as the two-strokes racing the European Championships EMX125 presented by FMF Racing and EMX300 presented by FMF Racing ripped up and down the rolling hills of Talavera de la Reina for the third rounds of their series’. In the big-bore two-stroke class, EMX300 presented by FMF Racing, it was GL12 Yamaha’s Brad Anderson who rode the wheels off of his grunty blue beast for his first race win and overall victory of the season. Meanwhile in the EMX125 presented by FMF Racing class, it was the little Italian star riding for KTM De Carli Racing, Gianluca Facchetti, who took his first ever round win. European Moto2 and Superbike Championships at Aragon (Spain) – Day 2

  Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex) and Carmelo Morales (SPA-Yamaha) won both races in the Moto2™ European Championship and Superbike European Championship classes. The first Moto2™ race was won by Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex) after a struggle for the lead  between the South African, Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex), Alan Techer (FRA-NTS NH 6) and Augusto Fernández (SPA-TECH3). Remy Gardner (AUS-Kalex) started second but went down in the early stages. With three laps to go, Steven Odendaal pulled clear to cross the finish line alone and take his second victory of the season. He was followed by Tetsuta Nagashima and Alan Techer. Ivo Lopes (POR-Kawasaki) was victor in the Superstock 600 category.The second Moto2™ race began with a multiple crash at the start of the back straight involving Xavi Cardelus (AND-Kalex), Michael Aquino (USA-Ariane), Jacopo Cretaro (ITA-Yamaha) and Thibaut Gourin (FRA-Yamaha). EMX 65 and 85 SW and Open Championships at Orehova Vas (Slovenia) – Day 2

It was a sunny day on the well prepared track of Orehova Vas, in Slovenia, for the EMX65 and 85 and Open Championships. EMX 65In Race1 the championship leader Russo does the holeshot before Gutierrez and Pavan who crashed in 2nd lap and was out of the race. Close racing in top 5 gave Gutierrez as final winner before Lata and Russo.In Race2 Italian Russo and Russian Osmolovskiy struggled for the leadership of the race. Russo crashed but restarted and managed to gain some points. In the end Gutierrez won in front of Osmolovskiy and of  Spanish Guillen. In the overall Gutierrez won before Lata and Guillen. EMX 85In Race1 it was close racing from the start. Holeshot for Eddie Wade before Facca and Hofer followed by Cristino. Local hero Mausser was in the pack around the 10th place. European 600 Supersport in Donington (Great Britain)

In the same starting grid as the 7th World Supersport race of Donington (Great Britain), the 5th round of the European 600 Supersport Cup was held. The top FIM Europe Supersport Cup rider at Donington Park was once again Alessandro Zaccone for San Carlo Team Italia, with the young Italian impressing in his debut WorldSSP outings.Zaccone finished the race in 12th position, but first of the European Cup, in front of Mikhalchik from Ukraine. Third position of Zaccone’s compatriot and team mate, Axel Bassani. Now Zaccone leads the standings, 6 points ahead of Bassani.The next round will be on the home track for the Italians, in Misano Adriatico, on June 19th.

European Moto2 and Superbike Championships at Aragon (Spain) – Day 1

Steven Odendaal Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex) in Moto2™  and Carmelo Morales (SPA-Yamaha) in Superbike will head the grids in the third round of the FIM CEV Repsol at MotorLand Aragon this Sunday. In the Moto2™ European Championship, Steven Odendaal headed the first qualifying session, which had to be postponed early on owing to a pile-up involving 11 riders caused by oil left on the track by Bertin Thibaut’s (FRA-Suter) machine. Remy Gardner (AUS-Kalex) and Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex) took the other slots on the front row in the absence of the final qualifying session. Steven Odendaal earned pole with a time of 1'54.993. Remy Gardner benefited from his first session time to keep the line of the grid and being Tetsuta Nagashima in third position. Ivo Miguel Paixao set the quickest time in Superstock 600 of 1'57.744. EMX 65 and 85 SW and Open at Orehova Vas (Slovenia) – Day 1

The city of Orehova Vas, close to Maribor in Slovenia, hosted the EMX 65 and 85 SW Zone and the Open Championships. In a hot and sunny Saturday the EMX65 counted 27 riders, EMX 85 had 30 and EMX Open 20 riders. This is how the qualifying races went. EMX 65 - Russian Osmolovskiy did the holeshot and managed to stay in front of the Spanish Gutierrez until 2 laps before the end, when he made a mistake and was passed by Gutierrez and by Italian Pavan. The championship leader, Italian Russi, ended up in 4th position after a great recovery. EMX 85 - Alessandro Facca was the fastest at the holeshot but he was passed by Rene Hofer, and then the first positions did not change anymore. Italian Kevin Cristino was in 3rd position from start to finish. Home rider Maks Mausser recovered from 8th to 4th place.  EMX

Individual European Speedway Championship at Olching (Germany)

Individual European Speedway Championship was held in Olching (Germany) on May 26th in front of around 3.500 spectators. Sixteen riders from 8 Countries aimed to finish the meeting in the top 7, in order to advance to the Final series. The event was dominated by Polish Krzysztof Kasprzak, who scored 13 points.Second position for Danish Leon Madsen, third for Swedish Jonas Kylmäkorpi. After many interesting races of high sports level, the other riders who advanced to the Finals are also Polish Przemyslaw Pawlicki, Danish Hans Andersen, Swedish Peter Ljung and Danish Anders Thomsen.The first Final will be in Güstrow, Germany on next July 16th.
