On the 2nd of May the Bulgarian city of Troyan hosted the qualifying sessions of the 2nd round of the SE European MX65 and MX85 Championship. On this beautiful, perfect prepared track, fifteen 65cc and eighteen 85cc boys met for a fighting weekend.
The qualifying heats of EMX65 showed in the first positions three riders from different nationalities: Moldavian Cuharciuc, Roumenian Popovici and Bulgarian Grozdanov. In EMX85 the Bulgarians Dimitrov and Georgiev were followed by the Croatien Hranic.
The qualifying race in EMX85 started with slight rain. At the start Georgiev crashed, while he was second. Hranic and Dimitrov were fighting for two laps, changing position all the time. Dimitrov was leading the pack untill the end although Hranic was closing up at the end and finished only 2 seconds later. The unlucky Georgiev managed to finish in 3th position. In the actual standings these 3 riders are at the first three places. We are expecting 2 very good races tomorrow.
The qualifying race EMX65 started with prequalifying strongest Moldavien Cuharciuc in the lead, followed by the 2 Bulgarians Ivanov and Grozdanov. The Greek Sagmalis and Roumanian Popovici finished in 4th and 5th position. Close racing but no changes from start to finish. The start will be very important tomorrow.
