EMX125 and Honda EMX150 European Championship in Bastogne (Belgium)

aboutuemWith temperatures quite a bit colder than yesterday and a sky withholding thick cloud cover, the sixth round the EMX125 European Championship and the second round of Honda EMX150 European Championship kicked off today at the grass roots style circuit of Bastogne, Belgium.

In the EMX125 class, Wilvo Nestaan JM Racing KTM’s Pauls Jonass was back to his dominating ways. The speedy Latvian led Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Brian Hsu and Frenchman Nicolas Dercourt across the finish to take his fifth EMX125 round victory of the year. The Latvian star took the early lead and went on to lead every lap for his fifth ‘Final’ race victory of the season. Only three seconds back from Jonass was the young German, Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Brian Hsu. Hsu put in his best ride of the season to edge out the previous round winner Nicolas Dercourt for second.

Pauls Jonass holds onto the red plate with his thirty-seven point lead over Team MJC’s Nicolas Dercourt in second. Meanwhile the battle for second remains smoking hot with only two points separating Dercourt and KTM Bodo Schmidt Motorsports’ Calvin Vlaanderen.

Taking home his first EMX150 round victory was Italian Filippo Grigoletto who led the race from start to finish ahead of Enzo Toriani and Mitchell Lewis. After standing on the third step of the podium at round one in Lausitzring, Filippo Grigoletto was on a mission this weekend. When the gates dropped for the EMX150 ‘Final’ the Italian Grigoletto was on fire, putting in a solid eleven laps to take his first ever EMX150 ‘Final’ race win. French youngster Enzo Toriani spent most of the race defending second place against the raging round one winner Mitchell Lewis. Unfortunately for Lewis an opportunity never arose to make a pass forcing him to settle for third.

Italian Filippo Grigoletto and Brit Mitchell Lewis are equal on points in first and second. Grigoletto will carry the red plate as he finished with the stronger result at the most recent round. Italian Alberto Forato is a further seven points back in third.

The following EMX125 round and the round three of the EMX150 Championship will take place next weekend in Great Britain during the MXGP Festival at the circuit of Matterley Basin, Winchester.
