European Bridgeston Iron Cup: the paralympic season started in Le Mans

second round at Spa

The second round of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup took place at famous Circuit Spa Francorchamps together with the Endurance World Championship and Sidecar World Championship, at the presence of FIM Europe President Mr Martin De Graaff.
The event started on Thursday with free practices, while races took place on Friday and Saturday with riders from six different countries (France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic), remarking the international aspect of this Championship.

Class 1000cc
At the end of a thrilling race 1 the French rider Benoit Thibal got the win ahead of Italian Emiliano Malagoli and Martin Horky from the Czech Republic.
In race 2 was Horky to win. Behind him great challenge for the second position between two Italian riders: at the end Alex Innocenti had the best on Malagoli.
As regards the special category “Lesser Impared” 1000cc, reserved to riders with minor disabilities, the winner in both races was the Italian rider Umberto Troisi, who was also the poleman and the overall winner. He also set the best lap time of the whole weekend (2’24.814).

Class 600cc
In race 1 home rider Christophe Bernard won ahead of Italian rider Maximilian Sontacchi and French Nicolas Dandine.
In race 2 was Sontacchi to had the best followed by Bernard, while Dandine was forced to the withdraw due to a technical problem.
For the special category “Lesser Impaired” 600cc the Spanish Antonio Montoya Cazorla ruled both the races.

Next round of the European Handy Bridgestone Cup is scheduled on October 15th-16th at Jerez de la Frontera.
