First day Enduro EC in Antans (Spain)

fim europeThe overall champion from last year, the Italian Maurizio Micheluz, won the first day of the season-opener in Antans, South of Spain. In the last of the three rounds he was the only one which took the steep and direct line with his Suzuki in the extreme-test – and took the win in this way!

Second in the overall was the British junior Steve Holcombe on a KTM in front of his fellow-countryman, the European-junior-champion Jack Rowland: Rowland is riding this year in the E1-Class and there he took the second place right behind Micheluz and the Belgian Cedric Cremer. This former European-Champion is now starting with a smaller 250-4-stroke KTM after a years break!

The E2-Class of the seniors won Jamie Lewis, the Husqvarna-Team-member an compatriot from Rowland, in front of the two Czechs Ondrej Helmich and Jakub Sefr.

The Frenchman Julien Jagu won in front of his TM-Team-Member, the Italian Jacopo Cerutti, the E3-class.

Veteran-European-Champion Werner Müller seems to be on the way to his next title: the 46 year old Austian won with more than two minutes advantage in front of the Frenchman Laurent Pannetier.

When the reigning European champion Jessica Jönsson had to quit after an heavy crash, it was the French Audrey Rossat on her KTM to win the ladys-class in front of the Finn Marita Nyqvist.

The special-tests and the stages showed the high level of the competition: sometimes the riders had to fight better to the dust and the stones, instead to their competitors. So the first of the three tests had to be cancelled in the last round. But also more than 30 % of the riders did not reach the finishing line
