European Trial in Pietramurata (Italy)

German Theresa Baeuml (Beta) and Italian Lorenzo Gandola (Scorpa) topped the first podiums respectively in Women and Youths classes in Pietramurata, Italy, first round of the 2016 FIM Europe Trial Championship.

Seventy young riders are taking part to this first event of a real “evergreen” series: a championship that does not know the “crisis” word.
On the 12 sections in the private area, easily reachable by spectators, the girls started first on a cloudy spring day. The last year’s champion, Baeuml, showed soon her intention to defend the title. She lost just 7 points in the whole first loop, while all her rivals’ scores were quite distant. Last year’s winner in this round and home idol Sara Trentini (Beta) scored 19 penalties, same for German Bianca Huber (Scorpa) and these ones were the same girls who occupied the three steps of the podium one year ago, but other two ones were very close. With one point more, Norwegian Mette Fidge (Sherco) and with 21 points German Jule Steinert (Beta).
In the second lap Theresa managed to maintain her lead and even if she made 10 mistakes she won with a secure gap. Sara improved her score (17) gaining the runner-up position ahead of Mette, who was able to overtake Bianca.
Same big gap from the winner to the others in the Youth class. Gandola conquered his victory with the best score in the first lap: 14 against 18 made by British Jack Peace (Gas Gas) in second position . In third position British Billy Green (Beta) who scored 22. No changes in the second part of the competition, where Gandola was simply outstanding: he made only one mistake. Peace scored 7 and Green 8, so the final classification was in this order.
In the Women International British Gabrielle Witham (Beta) rode one step above all the others. She finished with 4 points in total. Very close the battle for the second place, with two German riders who ended separated by just 1 point: Carolin Sauerbrei (Sherco) scored 10 and Lisa Marie Eck (Gas gas) 11.
Italian Mirko Spreafico (Gas Gas) was king of the Youth International class as last year. He dominated his class, scoring just 3 points in the first lap, and then controlling his advantage. Runner-up was Swedish Linus Almthen (Scorpa) ahead of British Jacob Snowdon (Beta).
Next round in Krzerzowice, Poland on 25th of June.0-gandola0
