Spanish Miquel Gelabert (Sherco, photo 1) sees the 2016 European title almost in his pocket after having topped the podium in the fifth round of the European Trial Championship, held today at Sokolov, in Czech Republic.

Gelabert did not accept to be defeated by one single point the day before and had a very determined, concentrated start. None kept his pace: only 6 points lost in the first loop and even better in the second loop, with 4 points. On the fifteen sections featured in each loop it was an extraordinary result.
The very dry terrain facilitated Spanish riders, more accustomed to deal with that sort of soils. Indeed in the second place, completely recovered after the accident happened inspecting the sections at the eve of the previous racing weekend in late May, Francisc Moret (Vertigo) gave his best scoring 10 and 7 points, so as to finish in a deserved second position. Yesterday’s winner, Iwan Roberts (Beta) made some mistakes in the first loop, closing it with 13 points. His good recover in the second part of the race (6) consented him to climb the rostrum. In fourth and fifth position two more British riders: Toby Martyn (Beta) and Dan Peace (Gas Gas). The latter kept the second place in the overall standing even if almost caught up by Roberts.
peacejackJack Peace (Gas Gas, photo2) clinched the title in the Junior Cup with his fifth win out of five rounds. Today he dominated the race once more. He cleaned the first loop and posed 3 feet in the second one. Behind him the Italian group involuntarily favored his conquer of the title with one round left. They alternated in the runner-up position and increased the gap between him and the second: Luca Corvi (Scorpa), who today made better than Sergio Piardi (Beta) and the two finished in this order.

0-markusKippIn the Over 40 class German Markus Kipp (Beta, photo3) honored the title won yesterday and topped the podium again, reaching the en-plein of wins so as Jack Peace did in the Junior class: 5 out of 5. Second position for his country mate Mathias Becker (Gas Gas). Third place for Czech Pavel Kohout (TRS).
The next and last round will be held next Sunday on August 14th, in Großheubach, Germany.
