The podium of the EMX65
In the weekend of 6-7 June the last event of North West European Motocross 65 and 85 cc Championship was held in Erslev (Denmark), organised by Morsø MotoCross Klub.
Both racing days benefitted from sunny weather and wind, which allowed around 2.400 spectators to watch the event live in the track. After the technical control there were 25 riders in the EMX65 class and 39 riders in the EMX85 class.
EMX65
The first heat of this class was dominated by Dutch rider Sem de Lange who took the start and never lost the leadership until the chequered flag was given. He was followed by Danish rider Matti Jørgensen half a second before Dutch rider Scott Smulders on the third place. In the second heat Swedish rider Teddy Jondell took the start, but he was passed by two riders, and ended on the third place. The winner was Czech rider Martin Venhoda two seconds in front of Scott Smulders.
The overall standing for this event shows Martin Venhoda on the first place, followed by Scott Smulders and Matti Jørgensen.
Final standings for the NW zone in this class are Constantin Piller (GER) 220 points, followed by Kay Karssemakers (NED) 205 points and Martin Venhoda (CZE) 189 points.
Mikkel Haarup, winner of NW Zone in EMX85
EMX85
The first heat was dominated by Danish rider Mikkel Haarup, who won with a gap of 29 seconds on Czech rider Petr Polak who was 6 seconds before Bastian Bøgh Damm from Denmark. In the second heat it was again Mikkel Haarup who led from start to finish, the second place was again for Petr Polak, 40 seconds behind. Third place in this heat was for Dutch rider Raf Meuwissen.
In the final score Mikkel Haarup took first place before Petr Polak and Bastian Bøgh Damm.
Overall zone-winner in this class is Mikkel Haarup (DEN) 294 points, second is Petr Polak (CZE) 223 points and third is Rick Elzinga (NED) 212 points.
