UEM-FIM Europe Snowmobile Cup in Karstula

The first ever UEM-FIM Europe Snowmobile Cup were held this weekend in Karstula (Finland). The organizer did a fantastic job with tracks and everything around and there was about 1000 spectators. The race run in perfect weather conditions, -20 to -5 degrees and a sunny sky. Track was almost perfect 40-50 cm af snow and ice, the track was about 130km and was used for one lap on friday race and 1 1/2 lap on Saturday for a total length of the race for about 300 kms. In total 7 special stages with real battles in all classes before the winners could take the checkered flag. Updates on the 2013 Motocross of European Nations and the EMX150 Championship

Following discussions with the promoters Youthstream there is to be a change of format for the Motocross of European Nations. Each European FMN can enter one team of 4 riders as follows: 2 riders on 85cc 2strokes – age limits 11 to 14 years old. 1 rider on a 125cc 2 stroke – age limits 13 to 17 years old. 1 rider on a MX2 specification motorcycle as defined in FIM technical rules – age limits 14 to 21 years old. Each rider will have 2 races. The 85cc riders will race together in 2 races for 20 minutes plus 2 laps and the 125 and MX2 riders will race together in 2 races for 25 minutes plus 2 laps. The 85cc riders will not compete against the 125cc or the MX2 riders. The best seven (from 8) results will count for the overall team positions. Qualification will take place

Herten 2013 winner of the Snowcross European EC in Hattfjelldal (Norway)

The European Snowcross Championship was held this weekend in Norway in the town Hattfjelldal. 23 teams came on Saturday Morning to a perfect prepared Snow Track. The event was characterized by -24 degrees in the morning and 14 degrees by midday. The four heat were won by respectively Jonatan Eriksson (SWE, Arctic Cat), Viktor Herten (FIN, Lynx), Viktor Herten (FIN, Lynx), Ståle Eggen (NOR, Lynx). Thanks to two victories and a 7th and a 3rd position, the Finnish rider Viktor Herten managed to get the first position in the overall standings with 84 points, followed by Swedish Magnus Renstrøm with 74 points and Ståle Eggen with 73 points. UEM Extraordinary General Assembly in Monaco

The UEM Extraordinary General Assembly was held on Friday the 30th of November at the Salle des Palmieres of the Hotel Montecarlo Bay in Montecarlo. The Assembly was chaired by the Deputy President Mr Wolfgang Glas because of the absence of the President Mr Mazzi (absence due to health reasons). The Assembly approved with a large majority the new Statutes, which align to the FIM Statutes approved in 2010 in Macao. The new Statutes contemplate, as a first tangible effect, the name change from UEM into FIM Europe. In the initial stage the two logos will appear together: UEM and FIM Europe. The name change process will be completed by the year 2013. On Saturday the 1st of December, the FIM General Assembly elected the UEM Vice President Mr Jorgen Bitsch as a member of the FIM BoD. The last round of the European Supercross Championship was held yesterday in the location of EicmaMotolive 2012 in Milan (Italy), where there was a wonderful public watching races and performances programmed in the external area of the Expo. The class SXRookie was won by the French rider Clement BRIATTE (Yamaha) followed by the compatriot Calvin FONVIEILLE (KTM) and the Russian rider Vladislav LEONOV (Suzuki), after the second round the provisional classification is leading by BRIATTE (33pts), 9 points more of the second one the French SALINGUE. First two rounds of Supercross EC in Marseille

The UEM SX series started with the first two rounds on the 19th and the 20th of October in Marseille (France). The debut of the 2012 edition of the UEM SX Series has taken place in front of a large audience. During the two nights of competition the show has been dominated by the balance of the skill of the riders from all the classes. During Friday the categories were three: SX1, SX2 and the SX125. SX2 is the new category inside the championship which has received a large approval by the competitors. On Saturday night has also started the SX Rookie Championship. The public has filled the stands till the afternoon and the desire to win of the riders has given to the show the charm of the great events.
