Third round of the Supermoto EC in Sosnova (Czech Republic)

aboutuemTrack of Sosnova (Czech Republic) hosted round 3 of European Supermoto championship for class ES2, and for Young Trophy as well. 25 riders participate at the event and races were supported by many Czech motorsport fans.

Race 1 has been red flagged in the second lap due to the accident; fortunately there were no serious injuries for the riders. In the repeated start Edgardo Borella (Yamaha) had the best start and was leading the first half of the race. Then he lost two positions in just one lap, and Malachi Mitchell-Thomas (TM) took the lead, with Asseri Kingelin (Honda) on the second place. First three positions remained the same to the finish of race 1. Mitchell-Thomas has been also winner of Youth trophy in race one, followed by Diego Monticelli (Honda) on second and Frederic Guerin (Suzuki) on third place. Race 2 was not as much exciting as Mitchell-Thomas was leading from start to finish, crossing the finish line with more than 2.5 second before Monticelli in second place and 4.6 seconds before third placed Kingelin. Kingelin’s overtaking of Borella in the last lap has been indeed overtaking for the podium. With this Kingelin has been second overall and Monticelli third.

S2 Championship leader remains Dutch Devon Vermuelen (KTM), but the gap before second placed Mitchell-Thomas has been reduced to only one point. Kingelin on place three is 12 points behind and Guerin one more. All this promises a big battle to the end of the season.

In the Youth trophy second race was won by Mitchell-Thomas, followed by Monticelli and Vermeulen.

With this victory Mitchell-Thomas become also overall championship leader with one point more than Vermeulen. Final round of the Supermoto EC for the class S2 is scheduled on the 30th of June in the Estonian track of Kuressaare.
