EMX65/85 North West Zone and European Women’s Championship at Markelo (The Netherlands) – Cancellation

«FIM-Europe and the KNMV regret to inform all riders entered for the final round of the EMX65/85 North West zone round which also is the final round of the European Women's MX championship this coming weekend in Markelo, is cancelled», states Eddie Herd, Chairman of FIM Europe Motocross and Snowcross Commission. «This is due to a "code red" being issued by the fire authorities on a large area around this part of The Netherlands because of the very dry and hot weather. The KNMV tried to find a replacement venue at short notice but the "code red" covers a large area. This means that the NW zone standings after Sverepec are now complete and invitations to compete in Loket will now be sent out by Youthstream to all top 10 riders from the 4 zones. This cancellation also applies to the European MX Women's championship riders and therefore the championship

European Hill Climb Championship at Isola del Liri (Italy)

In the surroundings of the beautiful town of Isola del Liri the fourth round of the European Hill Climb Championship took place in front of around 500 spectators. The event was in a very friendly "Italian" atmosphere, in the same context as the Italian Championship. In the European Championship 26 riders took their start. Free practices were held on Saturday, qualifying practice on Sunday morning. The races took place in two heats for all riders in very hot weather conditions. The winners in the European Championship classes are: Class 250 GP Guido Testoni (FMI), Class Supersport: Davide Lignite (FMI), Class Superbike: Stefano Bonetti (FMI, in the picture), Class Supermoto: Philippe Bongard (FMS). European Pairs Speedway Championship at Nagyhalász (Hungary)

The meeting was run on a very well prepared track. The weather was sunny and windy, therefore more frequent watering was needed. Thanks to the excellent work of the club staff the track was held in a good condition. Approximately 2500 spectators watched an exciting meeting in a beautiful stadium with very good facilities. It was very tight racing among teams of similar level. The meeting was held in front of around 2500 spectators and saw the participation of 7 teams. After the first seven heats the score was very tight, three teams had only two points of difference. Then Latvia started to gain a margin and won the meeting followed by Germany and Ukraine. At the meeting and the prize giving ceremony Deputy Minister of Sport and former Olympic Champion in swimming dr.Szabó Tunde was present. European U21 Team Speedway Championship at Gniezno (Poland)

The meeting was run in front of around 500 spectators on a dry, hard track following dry, windy but sunny weather conditions. Thanks to the hard work of the club staff the dust was very well controlled throughout the meeting. The meeting was held with no major incidents or accidents. Only some minor crashes happened but without any serious injuries. During the first session of heats it was already clear that only the Russian team had a chance to challenge the Polish team for the win. But in the following sessions of heats Russia dropped to Poland point after point. In the end the Polish team claimed an undisputed victory with an almost perfect afternoon, collecting 54 points out of 60 during the 20 heats. The second place went to the Russian team scoring 41 points. Finland and Ukraine were only battling for 3rd and 4th place the whole meeting

The 24th edition of the FIM Europe Congress, held in Nantes (France), lived today an exceptional Day 4, which happens every four years, after the elections of the new Management Council. The members elected - or re-elected - yesterday are Dr Wolfgang Srb, Martin de Graaff, Jean-Marc Desnues, Juhani Halme, Martins Lazdovskis, Silvio Manicardi, Nicoleta Olariu, Michal Sikora and Jan Stovicek. The new FIM Europe Management Council, elected yesterday. FIM Europe Congress at Nantes (France) – Day 3

The 24th FIM Europe Congress in Nantes (France) finished successfully today with the Meetings of the Sporting and Non-Sporting Councils, the Management Council as well as the General Assembly in the afternoon. There were 40 National Federations present and over 250 delegates. The speech of Dr Wolfgang Srb The FFM President Jacques Bolle welcomed the delegates to Nantes. The FIM President Vito Ippolito addressed the audience and referred especially to the future tasks of FIM and FIM Europe in the years to come.Important decisions were taken, among them the approval of the 2017 Balance-sheet and of the 2018 Budget. The second day of FIM Europe Congress was held today in Nantes, France. As scheduled, the Management Council was held, so as the Meetings of the Commissions and Panels. In the afternoon, the Road Safety Conference took place, which was very successful, with big attendance of delegates and media. The Management Council during the speech of FIM Europe President Dr. Wolfgang Srb. The topic of this year was: “Electric Mobility: from Racing to Riding the Roads”, dealing with the development of electronics and technology. After the welcome speech of Mr Jean-Pierre Moreau, Chairman of Public Affairs Commission, FIM Europe 2nd Vice-President Mr Silvio Manicardi explained ‘Why a Conference on electric motorcycles in Europe?’.
