European Moto2, Superstock 600 and Talent Cup at Aragon (Spain) – Day2

Edgard Pons (AGR Team, photo1) won both races in the Moto2™ European Championship and José Antonio Rueda (Talent Team Estrella Galicia 0,0) and David Muñoz (Jerez Andalucía Motor Talent) shared the victories in the European Talent Cup (photo2). Edgar Pons collected his first win of the season in the Moto2™ ECh after going solo in the opening laps. The AGR Team rider crossed the line more than two seconds ahead of Jesko Raffin (Swiss Innovative Investors Junior) while Héctor Garzó (Team Wimu CNS) finished third more than 11 seconds behind the winner to secure his first podium of the season. Alessandro Zetti (Fau55 Racing) was the best classified in Superstock 600. Edgar Pons received the Repsol free fuel cheque. European Supersport 300 Cup at Grobnik (Croatia)

The 4th round of the European Supersport Cup was held at Grobnik, in Croatia together with the Alpe Adria International Championship event. On the brand new surface of the Grobnik track the riders were faster than before, notwithstanding typically Croatian Summer weather conditions. The Saturday practice was held without any hard problem and the qualifying result is: Roman Kucera from Slovakia (photo1) ahead of South African Samuel Lochoff and of Michal Búlik from Slovakia (photo2). In Race1 the final ranking saw Kucera ahead of Búlik and Lochoff. In Race2 the podium saw Búlik winning ahead of Lochoff and of Vojtech Schwarz from Czech Republic. In both days the races were spectacular and satisfied the around 3000 spectators who attended the event even though the weather was very hot. EMX Quad at Stelpe (Latvia)

The Latvian town of Stelpe hosted the last round of the European Quad Championship of the seson, with 25 riders from 11 Countries ahead of around 5.000 spectators. On Saturday in the qualifying race the winner was Kevin Saar from Estonia, ahead of Christopher Tveraen from Norway and Roman Gwiazda from Poland. Today in Race1 the qualifying positions were maintained and Kevin Saar won ahead of Christopher Tveraen and Roman Gwiazda. In Race2 Kevin Saar won again, this time ahead of British Harry Walker and Emils Phoelich from Latvia. In the overall Kevin Saar won with 50 points, second was Harry Walker ahead of Ricard Phoelich, both with 38 poinnts. José Antonio Rueda (Talent Team Estrella Galicia 0.0) in the European Talent Cup made his debut as poleman in the fifth round of the FIM CEV Repsol this weekend in MotorLand Aragon, as did Edgar Pons (AGR Team) on his return this season to the Moto2 European Championship. In Moto2™ EC, Edgar Pons (AGR Team, photo1) secured his first pole of the season, breaking Jesko Raffin’s (Swiss Innovative Investors Junior) two-pole streak with a time of 1:53.675. Category leader Jesko Raffin finished second and Héctor Garzó (Team Wimu CNS), third. Very few riders improved on the times achieved in the morning session. Lukas Tulovic (Team Wimu CNS), Tommaso Marcon (Team Ciatti) and Miquel Pons (Bullit) will be looking to get back on the podium from the second row of the grid, taking advantage of the absence of Augusto Fernández, who has been on the podium in each race so far,

European U21 Individual Speedway Championship Semi-final 3 at Oslo (Norway)

In sunny, hot conditions, the European U21 Individual Speedway Championship Semi-final 3 was held at Oslo (Norway) ahead of around 200 spectators. Racing was tough with lot of overtaking. The winner was Swedish Joel Kling in front of Frederick Jakobsen and Andreas Lyager Hansen, both from Denmark. The first six riders were qualified to the final: the fourth position was taken by Lasse Fredriksen from Norway, ahead of Patrick Hansen and Christian Thaysen, both from Denmark. The final will be held at Stralsund, Germany, on 15 September.

European Sidecar Championship Final at Werlte (Germany)

The 3,500 spectators, who attended the European Sidecar Championship Final at Werlte in North Germany, were treated to an exciting evening of close racing, although the meeting did take a little longer than originally scheduled. Despite extensive track watering during the preceding week, the very hot and humid conditions made it difficult for the organising club to maintain an ideal race surface as the meeting progressed. Following a discussion between the riders and the FIM Europe Jury members, additional track grading and watering sessions were added to the night’s schedule and this enabled the riders to race at speeds approx 120 km/h on the 540 metre oval. Taking the title as 2018 European Champion was Camden Mc Lellan in EMX85 and Brando Rispoli in EMX65 while Mike Kras won the Czech round of EMX300 presented by FMF Racing. The Loket circuit provided epic conditions for the riders with overnight rain watering the track perfectly. The EMX classes took advantage of the conditions with amazing racing in front of the thousands of motocross fans lining the massive hillsides. European Pairs Speedway Championship at Lonigo (Italy)

The Semi-Final of the European Pairs Speedway Championship was held at Lonigo, in Italy, in front of around 1.200 spectators. It was an entertaining meeting with close racing and several passes, especially in the second half of the meeting. Sweden won the meeting thanks to a last heat decider against Czech Republic. The Swedish pair passed the impressive Czech Krcmar in the 15th heat, to claim the most important points of the night. The runner-up place went to hosts Italy with Paco Castagna who recorded four wins in a row in a sparkling style. He was well supported by fellow team mate Nicolas Covatti who suffered also a crash during the meeting. The last place on the rostrum went to pre-meeting favourites Czech riders. Speedway Euro Championship at Daugavpils (Latvia) – Entry list

Olegs Mihailovs will take part in the third round of Tauron Speedway Euro Championship at Daugavpils, in Latvia - the organizers, in fact, gave him a wild card for competition in his hometown. Olegs Mihailovs is 19 year old rider. This season the Latvian is riding for Lokomotiv Daugavpils in the Polish 1st division. Fans had a chance to see Mihailovs in action in the first U21 World Championships final, held in Daugavpils, too. Also for that competition, the organizers gave him a wild card, and the young rider scored 12 points and finished 4th in the final. The Latvian is also fighting in the European Junior Championships, and he has been promoted to final.
