Warnia new European Champion of the MAXXIS EMX QUAD EC

aboutuemThe fifth round of the MAXXIS EMX Quad European Championship was run this weekend in La Capelle Marival (France). The weather was rainy on Sunday morning, but later in the morning and afternoon it got better and the sun came partly back.

In race 1, hole shot and Pole Position went to British Paul Holmes (Yamaha), just in front of the German Stefan Schreiber (KTM) and than the leader of this years Championship, Jeremie Warnia (CAN-AM). Netherlands top rider, Mike Van Grinsven (W.TEC), was only seventh after the first lap. In lap 5 Warnia could pass Schreiber and started his attacks on Holmes. But Holmes made a clever and very fast race with his best lap time in 1:49,577, which is an average speed of 52.6 km/h, and won heat 1 in front of the French Jeremie Warnia, 7.4 sec behind Holmes. In lap 13 from 19 Van Grinsven overtook Schreiber and brought the 3rd position to the finish line, approx. 39 sec. behind the winner. Schreiber managed to keep the 4th place in front of the Belgian rider Davy De Cuyper and the first French, Yoann Ciclet in position 6.

In the second race, holeshot and Pole Position to Warnia in fron of French Sousa Borges Anthony (TBS), and Van Grinsven. Warnia dominated the heat and managed not to give the pole position out of his hands and his distance to the second, again Paul Holmes, was more than 1.5 min. Holmes started in 5th position and came up step by step into position 2. But the distance to Warnia was to big. Third place again went to the young Netherland Star Mike Van Grinsven in front of the German Stefan Schreiber, who came in as 4th again.

Thanks to today results Jeremie Warnia is already now the new European Quad Champion with 237 points, 54 points ahead of Paul Holmes now with 183 points, and Stefan Schreiber, 165 points, only 3 points ahead of Van Grinsven.

The sixth and last round will be held on the 12th of August in Kegums (Latvia).
