European Sidecar and Quad Cross in Schwedt (Germany) – Day 2

IMG0307 lowOn the Moto Cross Track of Schwedt, in the North Eastern Part of Germany, called ‘Uckermark’ this year’s combined Moto Cross Team event for Side Cars (Open SCXoEN) and for Quads (QXoEN) was held.

14 Side Car Teams entered and 13 are present with 3 Sidecars in each national Team. For the first time a team from Australia participates in this Top Team event of World Sidecar Sport, together with the leading European Nations Netherlands, France, Belgium and the fast followers.
16 Quad Teams entered and 15 are present with as well 3 Quads in each national Team. This is the first time ever that more Quad Teams participate than Sidecar Teams. In a favorite role Netherland, Latvia, Great Britain and perhaps Germany A go to the starting grid.
Side Car:
Group A+B:   
26 SC Teams left the starting grid. Top start from Vandaele/Dhont and Pozzi/Ceresa. For the first 12 minutes Vandaele is leading in front of Hendrickx/B. van den Bogaart and Bax/K. Stupelis, who crahes with another rider in the tribune corner and falls back after Willemsen in 7th position, but will finish in 2nd. The winner is Hendrickx, third Vandaele in front of Wilkinson/Kirwin GBR and Willemsen/Bax.
Group B+C:   
Second heat of Sidecars was the race of Multi Worldchampion Daniel Willemsen with his new passenger Peter Beunk. He won the race with more than 16 sec to the 2nd, M. Vanluchene/E. Soenens  BEL and B. Wilkinson/S. Kirwin, GBR. The 2nd NED Team  K. Hermans/K. van Gaalen finished in  4th in front of the 2 Czech teams Cermak and Cerny. J. Vandaele has been disqualified because of not allowed bike change.
Group A+C:
This was again a race of Hendrickx/B. van den Bogaart and Bax/K. Stupelis. Until last lap Hendrickx was leading, but finally, at about 1500 m from the finish line, Bax could pass and won the last race. Third place to Giraud/Mucenieks in front of Brown/Chamberlain and Hermans/van Gaalen and Riim/Peever.
At the end Netherlands won the MXoEN 2015 with 13 Points.
Overall, Nations:  1. Netherlands,  13 Pts;  2. Great Britain, 27 Pts,  3. Belgium, 33 Pts;  4. Czech Rep., 34 P;  5. Estonia, 36 P; 6. France, 57 P;  7. Germany, 58 P;

Report and results Quads:
30 Quads left the starting grid and up the short hill than to the right and back downhill, always the most interesting moment after each start.
Edgars Mengelis, more or less for the whole distance in the lead, won this heat in front of van Grinsven, starting in 5th position and after 6 laps already in 2nd place. Third position for Luke Cooper, GBR, followed by A. Cesari, ITA, S. Schreiber, GER, and K. Kangur, EST.
Group B+C:    
The 2015 European ITP Quad Champion Edgars Mengelis won also his 2nd race. The two Germans, Schreiber (2nd) and Zienecker (4th) held the chance for a Podium for Germany. Joe Maessen from Netherlands brought home the 2nd place, while the 2nd NED rider, Ingo ten Vregelaar, finished in 7th position, so the Netherlands has as well good chances for the Podium.  

Group A+C:    
In the last race Netherlands Mike van Grisven dominated and won, with the 7th place of ten Vreggelaar also the Nations Trophy went to the Netherlands. With 2 souverain wins of Mengelis and good results in both heats, Latvia took home the silver medal. With a and surprising 2nd place from Haas and 13th place from Zienecker Germany came in on Bronze.

Overall, Nations:  1. Netherlands, 20 Pts;  2. Latvia,  24 Pts;  3. Germany, 26 Pts;   4. Poland, 47 Pts;  5. Estonia,  47 P; 6. Denmark, 49 P;  7. Ireland, 54 P.
