The European Enduro Championship is ready to kick off

The new season of the Enduro European Championship is ready to kick off in two weeks, on 29/30 of April in Portugal. In Gouveia a challenging area is waiting for the riders, right at the border of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park.
The local motoclub is busy in preparing everything: the special cross-test and enduro-test are all within walking distance from the paddock. Around on the track there are some more spectacular places.

The start of the three rounds, each of 55 km, will be at 9:00 am, and the arrival is expected at 3:00 pm.
The reigning champion Brad Freeman is not going to take part to the series, because aftern winning the European series he has become a factory rider for Beta in the world championship. This means that this year the series will have a new overall champion.
Last season’s second, the Czech Jaromir Romancik, is the new favourite: he lost the title in the E2-class in the very last competition for an unlucky, painful crash. But he started well this year, racing in the international Motocross Championship “MX-Masters” in Germany, to prepare for the European Enduro.

The reigning champion in E2 class, the KTM rider Marco Neubert, is injured: the German twisted his knee during training and damaged his ligaments. Also injured is the junior champion Patrick Markvart, who broke his leg in a race. Also the champion of the Women Class Jane Daniels is not going to start, leaving the chance to win the title to all the other riders.
The event in Portugal will be the first of four competitions in the fight for the crown of European Enduro: the next round will be held in Estonia, on 8-9 July, where in Paikuse the European Championship already took place in 2012. On 5-6 August the third round will be held in Burg, in the centre of Germany, and the final event will be held from 13 to 15 October at Gelnica, in the East of Slovakia, on the tracks of the Six Days which was held there in 2015.
