European Freestyle Motocross Championship in Linz (Austria) – Day 2

The World Champion Maikel Melero, winner of the first and of the second round. @Night of the Jumps The second round of the European Freestyle Championship produced another great spectacle in Austria to end the weekend of competition on Sunday. For the sixth time the Night of the Jumps FMX riders have converged on Linz, this year with two contests and probably the most spectacular contest seen on Austrian soil. After the event of the previous day where some of the hardest tricks in Freestyle Motocross were thrown down, on Sunday the riders went even further. The crowd were treated in qualifying to Double Grab flips, Hart Attack Flips, 360 and Surfer Take-Off to Tsunami Flip. However to reach the final it would be the reigning World Champion, Maikel Melero also with Remi Bizouard, Rob Adelberg, Petr Pilat, Pat Bowden and Jose Miralles. Kicking off the European Freestyle Motocross Championship were the 11 FMX riders from six nations. In the mix was the Austrian local hero, Thomas Wirnsberger who against a top-class field was unable to assert himself and move into the finals. Rob Adelberg whose 2016 ambition is to win the FIM World Championship, was unable to take top honours on the podium. He put together an impeccable run and went for a California Roll to No-Hand-Landing on the Double Up. The race of the European Ice Speedway scheduled in St. Johann (Austria) on January 30th 2016 has been cancelled due to the mild winter, which does not allow to have proper ice for fair conditions on the track. A replacement is a possibility and it will be communicated in the next days. The race of the Baja European Championship scheduled in Kecskemet-Bugac (Hungary) on March 11th-13th will be held on March 18-20th.  The race of EMX Quads at St. Isidorushoeve (The Netherlands) scheduled on April 30th/May 1st is cancelled.  A replacement on the same weekend is a possibility.The EMX Quad race scheduled on May 7th-8th at Castelnau de Lévis (France) will be held on April 23-24th.The Vintage Regularity Cup scheduled on May 29th at Slovakiaring and on September 17th at Holic, both in Slovakia, has been cancelled.

The participants of the Non-Sporting Commissions in Fiumicino (Italy) The FIM Europe Non-Sporting Council was held today in Fiumicino (Italy) and was preceded by the four Non-Sporting Commission Meetings: Environment, Marketing, Public Affairs and Touring. "We have evaluated the good work made in 2015, especially in improving our communication strategy, using also new media like our Magazine, and increasing our presence at European level", FIM Europe Vice-President Silvio Manicardi stated. "We've just finished our meetings with the presence and support of several new members, in particular in the Marketing Commission, which started its 2016 job in an extremely positive way. The moment has arrived for all Commissions to translate the developed ideas into concrete actions in favour of the motorcyclists and of the Federations".
