European Mini Road Racing in Pomposa (Italy) - Day 2

European MiniMotoEuropean Mini Road Racing Championship promoted by FIM Europe this year is focused on two calendar events. After six years of absence it comes back in Italy, where the top young riders of Italian motorcycling were the great protagonists of races opening day at ‘Circuito di Pomposa’.

In the three classes of Mini Moto, Alex Venturini (Junior A), Andrea Natali (Junior B) and Michael Carbonera (Senior Open 50) gained the victory during first two of three races of the weekend, sealing a very “Italian Saturday”. Romenian rider Andrei Filimon stood out into MiniGP 50cc, while German rider Aaron Schafer stood out beween NSF100 with two commendable goals.

European Mini Moto
The great talent of young Italian riders and the “track factor” made a triumphal race day possibile at Pomposa Circuit. Italian riders won all six races for four times in Junior A, Junior B and Senior Open 50 they monopolized the podium. Starting from ‘Junior A’, where there were more emotions and some surprises compared to yesterday’s values. Luca Lunetta, leader of Italian Mini Moto ‘Cadetti’ Championship, gained pole position in 33″693 and he was the only rider who stopped the clock below 34″ limit. Alex Venturini instead was the great protagonist of the first two races. Riding his Phantom the very young rider (8 years old) of Cesena conquered the victory in Race 1 and in Race 2 closing 4″ before Lunetta and 10″ before Lorenzo Frasca. Venturini placed himself 3rd and he picked up precious points.
In ‘Junior B’ Andrea Natali was the great protagonist of Pomposa Circuit, where he has already been the winner of Race 2 of the Italian Championship. AC Racing Team rider, on DM, started from the pole position and won the first two races closing before Emiliano Ercolani (Phantom Corse) and Collin Veijer, the Dutch rider who grew agonistically in Italian CIV Junior. At the end of this remarcable day for Italian motorcycling the two podiums in the ‘Senior Open 50’ were monipolized again by the current European Champion Michael Carbonera (1st and 1st), Luigi Nespli (2nd and 3rd) and the very young Italian Minimoto Open A 2014 Champion Roberta Ponziani (3rd and 2nd), who closed the race at the first three places with all premises to make it again during the final race at 11.45 a.m.

European MiniGP/NSF100
There were not particular surprises in the first two races of European MiniGP 50cc/NSF100. Romenian rider Andrei Filimon, who was the only departing into MiniGP 50cc class, won the races of today, while the fight for the podium of Honda NSF100 Continental series was more exciting. Already in free practice German rider Aaron Schafer had showed he was fast. He won the two races finishing before Ondrej Vostatek and David Kuban, representatives of new motorcycling from Czech Republic who finished 2nd and 3rd in Race 1 while in the second race the Dutch rider Loran Faber gained the 3rd position, between Vostatek and Kuban.

Race Program
Tomorrow at Pomposa Circuit it will be the last activity day with the last races scheduled.
Minimoto Junior A Race 3 will start at 10.45 am, Junior B at 11.15 am and Senior Open 50 at 11.45 am. At 12.30 pm all the attention will be focused on “long” layout of 1.200 meters for MiniGP 50cc/NSF 100 Race 3, the last weekend race before the second and conclusive round of European Mini Racing Championship scheduled from next 12 to 14 August at TT Assen Circuit, in The Netherlands.
