EMX 65/85 South East Zone and Open at Mladina (Croatia) – Day2

The great track of Mladina in Croatia hosted the third EMX85-65 round of the South East Zone in the 2017 European Motocross Championship. This was also the third meeting this year for the Open class. More than 2000 spectators were present, with the organization of Jaska Motoclub.
Like last year, a storm hit the track during the early morning of Sunday, but luckly the weather turned
out to be better.

In EMX65, race1 saw Romanian rider Marius Popovici (KTM) get out in front and dominate ahead of Croatian Matija Sterpin (KTM). Zoltan Ordog (Husqvarna) also from Romania was third in this race. Marius Popovici managed to score a double victory after starting in front again in race2. Zoltan Ordog finished second while Bulgarian Viktor Borislavov (KTM) joined the two Romanians on the podium on the third step. Local rider Matija Sterpin finished the second race fourth and secured an overall podium on the third step. Romanians Marius Popovici and
Zoltan Ordog scored an 1-2 in the overall classification.
In EMX85, it was Hungarian Adam Zsolt Kovacs (Yamaha) the one who mastered the circuit of Mladina, scoring a comfortable double win. Also from Hungary, Laszlo Mark Tecsi (KTM) gained the second overall after a second place in race1 and a third place in race2. Igor Cuharciuc (KTM) from Moldova scraped a tie in points with his compatriot Nicolai Timus (Husqvarna) in an extremis overall podium in third place after managing to finish the second race in second.

In the Open class ones as usual riders offered amazing racing. It was Ukrainian Dmytro Asmanov’s (Yamaha) turn to score a double win this weekend. Petr Bartos of Czech Republic (KTM), last year also on the podium in second position, scored 42 points with a third and a second place.
Last round’s winner in the mud Ukrainian Volodymyr Tarasov (KTM) had to settle for third after scoring a fifth place in the race2.
The next race of the EMX85-65 South-East zone will be held 11th June in Romania while the Open class will travel to Russia on 4th June for the fourth event of the season.
