Sidecarcross and Quadcross of European Nations Day 1 at Slagelse (Denmark)

Quads – 20 Quad teams were present with teams from 17 European countries plus a team from Argentina, Canada and the USA producing some exiting and interesting racing. With the weather varying between clouds, sunshine and some showers of rain, team USA produced the perfect result with a win in the first race by Thomas Brown and again a win in the 3rd race by Chad Wienen and still had the luxury of a second position in race 2 by Jeffrey Rastrelli which the team did not need because it is the best two results that count for the overall team placings.

The Netherlands finished second overall on 5 points with Joe Maessen finishing third in race 2 and Mike Van Grinsven second in race 3.

Latvia finished third in the overall standings on 6 points with a win for Edgars Mengelis in race 2 and a 5th place for Valerijs Kuzmins.

Team Belgium was 4th at the end of the day, Ireland in 5th place on 11 points tied with team Italy also on 11 points.

Sidecars – After the 3 qualifying races team Belgium was on the top position on 4 points with a win for the new World Champions, Marvin Van Luchene with passenger Ben Van Den Bogaart, in the first race and a third place for Davy Sanders with passenger Andres Haller in the third race.

Team Latvia finished in second position on 6 points with 2nd in race 1 for the pairing of Didzis Gorbenko/Tanel Koiv and a 4th place in the third race for the pairing of Janis Daiders/Lauris Daiders.

Third in the overall team standings was team France again on 6 points with a 4th in race 1 by the pairing of Bastien Thomas/Siebe Van Der Putten and a second place in race3 by the pairing of Valentin Giraud/Johnny Badaire.

Team Great Britain finished 4th in the standings on 7 points with team Switzerland in 5th place on 8 points. Team Italy was in 6th place on 11 points beating many of the more experienced teams. The favourites and reigning champions, team Netherlands, finished in a disappointing 7th place on 12 points but tomorrow is another day and they will fight to keep the red plates and the championship.

In all races for the quads and also the sidecars the racing was close and furious and everybody is looking forward to today where the team champions will be decided.
