European Trial Championship in Grimmialp (Switzerland) – Day 2

Two more titles were assigned: to French Pierre Sauvage (Sherco) in the Junior Cup class and to Vladimir Kothay (Ossa) from Slovakia, in the Over 40 Cup class. Yesterday Theresa Baeuml (Ossa) and Toby Martyn (Beta) had already won the title of European champions after winning respectively the last round of the FIM Europe Trial Women and Youth championship. In the top class all the eyes were focused on the duel between the two riders who shared the first position in the championship: Tournour and Francesc Moret (Vertigo). Fatal crash for Stefan Mueller during  European Sidecar Championship Final

Stefan Mueller, world champion of Sidecarcross in 1980, died today in Hertingen (Germany) during the practice session of the European Sidecar Final Stefan Mueller died today in an accident during the practice session of the European Sidecar Championship in Hertingen (Germany). “Karl Keil and his passenger Stefan Mueller were in the second lap of practice, when Mueller fall on the track and he was hit by a French team, which was following”, said Imanuel Schramm, who was riding behind the two sidecars. The helicopter arrived quickly  but there was no chance for Mueller, who died on the track. Stefan Mueller was 55. The organizers have cancelled the event. FIM Europe expresses sincere condolences to the family and to all his relatives and friends.

European Trial Championship in Grimmialp (Switzerland) – Day 1

British rider Toby Martyn is the new European Champion in the Youth Class  - Photo by Mario Candellone Theresa Baeuml (Ossa) and Toby Martyn (Beta) conquered today the title of European champions after winning respectively the last round of the FIM Europe Trial Women and Youth championship, held today in Grimmialp, Switzerland. Surrounded by a wonderful mountain scenery and in a brilliant sunny day, there were twelve sections - to repeat twice. Theresa won easily in the Women class, confirming her great improvements in the latest months, that is from the first round held in Pietramurata (Italy), when she was beaten by Sara Trentini (Sherco), today in second place, after an incredible recovery from the fifth position. The German rider managed to show the same superiority as one week ago in Belgium. She led from the beginning and her final score is less than half the points made by the runner-up.

Indeed, it was in September 1990 when in this small mountain village that Jordi Tarres celebrated his third world title, even if this last round was won by Donato Miglio, who finished the season in third position, behind Diego Bosis. In the upcoming weekend 5 European titles will be assigned. Like one week ago in Belgium, there will be two days of competitions. European Mini Road Racing Championship in Assen (Netherlands)

The second event of the European Mini Road Racing Championship was held in Holland on the new TT juniortrack of Assen.A total of 71 riders from 8 different Countries competed at this second European Championship event. After the races in Pomposa (Italy) it was clear that the races in Assen were going to be exciting, thanks to the presence of many strong riders  in Assen. Unfortunately no medals were to be earned in the MiniGP50 class as there were not enough competitors.Prior to the European Championship races the KNMV organized an international Racecamp: 3 days of riding and learning with teachers from other European races classes, such as EC Stock 600 and the Red Bull Rookies Cup. European Bajas Championship in Hungary

On the weekend of 13-16 August the Hungarian Baja was held in Nyirad-Veszprem (Hungary); it was the fourth round of the European Bajas European Championship. In the Bike Class on Day 1 it was Pedro Bianchi Prata from Portugal to win before Rudolf Lhotsky, from Czech Republic, and home-rider Richard Hodola. Same podium on Day2, with Bianchi Prata who won again, and this is also the Overall standing.In the Quad Damian Rajczyk from Poland won in Day1 finishing the race before his compatriots Pawel Otwinowski and Adrian Bernat. On Day2 Rajczyk managed to confirm his performance. In the Overall he is the winner before Bernat and Otwinowski. Olga Rouckova, from Czech Republic, was the only woman at the start. In the UTV, Graziano Scandola from Italy won in Day1 before Tadeusz Wisniewski and his compatriot Giammarco Fossà. Speedway European Championship in Kumla (Sweden) – Sayfutdinov one step from gold!

In the photo, Andersen, Sayfutdinov, Milik and Engman   The third round of Speedway European Championship series in Kumla (Sweden) ended with the victory of Emil Sayfutdinov. The Russian rider beated his compatriot, Grigory Laguta, Nicki Pedersen and Antonio Lindbaeck in the grand finale. In Kumla Peter Kildemand and Piotr Protasiewicz did not start. Both riders suffered injuries in earlier performances and their participation in SEC was impossible. In Sweden Tomasz Gollob was present, but he did not show up on a track not even once.Riders maximally used first and second gate, which in the first two rounds were the best. The only rider who broke that pattern was later winner, Emil Sayfutdinov.The second part of the competition was the essence of speedway.
