Third round of Supermoto S2 EC in Pleven

Rainstorms on Sunday, after the sunshine and very high temperatures of Saturday characterised the third round of 2012 S2 Supermoto European Championship in Pleven (Bulgaria).

The first heat was won by the Czech rider Petr VORLICEK (HONDA) followed by the Italian Mattia MARTELLA (KTM) and the Dutch Devon VERMUELEN (KTM). The race has been characterized by the beautiful but unlucky performance of the British rider Chris HOGDSON (KTM) who was forced to retire for a problems to his rear wheel while he was leading the heat at one lap to the finish.

In the second heat the Dutch rider Devon VERMUELEN (KTM) won leading the race from the start to the finish, in second position arrived the Italian Mattia MARTELLA (KTM) and third was the Czech Petr VORLICEK (HONDA). Great comeback for the British rider Chris HOGDSON (KTM) who finished sixth after the start in last position.

In the third heat, with dry asphalt, there was a showdown of the Czech rider Petr VORLICEK (HONDA) who won leading the race from the first to the last lap, with this victory he scored the best result of the day and the first place of the podium. To complete the podium of the heat, as the one of the race, we had the Italian Mattia MARTELLA (KTM) followed by the Finnish rider Sami SALSTOLA (HONDA).

After the third round, Petr VORLICEK lead the classification with 212 points, 68 points more than the second rider Devon VERMUELEN (144 points), Sami SALSTOLA (138 points) complete the provisional podium with 99 points.

Next event is scheduled to take place in Rijeka (Croatia) on 7th and 8th of July 2012.
