Supermono European Cup at Rijeka (Croatia)

The second racing weekend of the Supermono European Cup took place at Grobnik in Croatia. The weekend started with free practice sessions already on Friday. The weather wasn’t the best, there were a storm passing by, so almost every tent in the pit where broken, and some bikes fell over.
Saturday (with a lot of sun) had 2 qualification rounds where Shaun Anderson from Irland and Josef Frauenschuh from Austria was the fastest riders on the track together with Daniele Scagnetti from Italy.

During the weekend, the Supermono European Cup had 3 races consisting of 8 laps each. In the first race Shaun Anderson took an early lead with Josef Frauenschuh hunting him down and also passed him. After only 5 laps the race was stopped due to a rider crashing, because his motorbike leaked some oil. The race counted as completed and full points were awarded. The winner of the race was Josef Frauenschuh, before Shaun Anderson and Johann Karl (AUT)
Just before race2, there was some rain in the air, but it was just a few drops. Shaun Anderson once again took the lead and kept it all all the race long. Josef Frauenschuh finished in second position ahead Karl Mann (photo1).
Before the start of race 3, there was rain in the air again. But it suddenly stopped raining and the race was declared dry. This time Josef Frauenschuh really made a good race, and he took the victory after a hard fight. A big battle went on stage for third place, too, among Johann Karl, Jurgen Pirstner (AUT) and Daniele Scagnetti (ITA) the whole race all. It ended with Pirstner in third position ahead of Scagnetti and Johann Karl. The three riders were in 2 tens of a second (photo2).
The European Supermono Cup will be back at Ochersleben on 25 -26th August.

This weekend there were a few wildcard riders, who did not score points in the Cup: Shaun Anderson (IRL), Philip Neumuller (AUT), Christof Henco (AUS), Ladislav Vojtko (CZE), and Florian Winkler (AUT).
