SM Junior – S3 – S Senior European Championship

SM Junior – S3 – S Senior European Championship:
final round in Bulgaria

Sunny and hot Pleven, Bulgaria, welcomed the SuperMoto Junior, S3 and Senior riders for the season finale.

Day 1
The Juniors had their both races in a standard high competition level with the difference that the championship leader and fastest from the timed practice Giani Gatorc (FRA, KTM), had a technical issue on the first lap of race one and had to retire from the race. This gave chances for Bulgarian Jivko Ivanov (KTM) and Russian Elena Petrishina (Husqvarna) to make a nice race ahead of the other competitors in the class. However, Catorc gave no second chances in race two and secured a podium position, together with Ivanov on top and Petrishina second.
For the S3 class, the big rivalry this season is between the Bulgarian Radostin Ivanov (Kawasaki) and the Russian rider Ivan Mosin (KTM), and before this weekend the gap between both riders was just one point. The advantage of being on home soil in Pleven played a major role I Mihaylov’s double win but without doubt Mosin proved to be a rider with high ambition for the win and did not make Mihaylov’s job easy at all. Third in both races was Aksel Pertelpoeg from Estonia with a GasGas 250 machine.
With the absence of the fastest Senior Alexander Lyatishev from Russia, the Senior cup class was a Bulgarian battle what was won by Biser Asenov (Kawasaki) ahead of Vladislav Dimitrov (BUL, KTM) who was struggling with technical issues both races.

Day 2
As the top three in each class were already more or less decided, the Sunday day offered exciting racing in mid summer temperatures of 30 plus Celsius which are typical for the venue but not for the season. Giani Catorc secured with easy his championship title in the Junior class after winning both races, second for the day and the season came out Jivko Ivanov and the bronze medal for the first time in the history of the European Junior class went to a female rider on a 65cc motorcycle, the Russian girl Elena Petrishina who undoubtedly has a great future ahead in the motorcycling sport.
