Track Racing referees support program

Track Racing referees support program

The Track Racing Commission, with approval of the Managing Council, decided to begin a special program for referees to support them when officiating at FIM Europe meetings, where they work as a Jury President and a Referee at the same time.
The first Zoom virtual meeting of the Referees Support Program took place on December 16th with participation of all referees.  Susanne Neuhäuser and Marek Wojaczek prepared a presentation with general information on the structure, the FIM Europe and general information on additional duties when officiating as Jury President and Referee, as well as examples from meetings in 2021 season.

Piotr Szymański, Chairman of the Track Racing Commission
“Our Referees often must double their duties and act also as Jury Presidents which means a lot of additional duties and burdens so we want to prepare them for the tasks in the best possible way. Regular meetings of the Support Program will keep the Referees updated with new rules, clarify their doubts, give a possibility to exchange experience and discuss problems – to name a few of the program targets. Possibly new elements like chats with a sport psychologist on dealing with stress will be added in the future”.

The next meeting of the Referees Support Program will take place before the beginning of the 2022 season and will be focused on rules and documentation of the events. More discussions are planned during the coming season which will clarify situations that may take place on tracks.
