The ceremony was staged at the superb “Auditorium Pallady”, where FRM President Christian Muresan welcomed hundreds of riders and families. Long-term Secretary General Gabriel Olariu received a special award for his outstanding services for the Romanian Federation.

BMU is one of the six successful “Regional Associations” of FIM Europe; the others are AAMU – Alpe Adria Motorcycle Union, AAM – Association Mèditerranéenne de Motocyclisme, BMA – Baltic Motorcyclists Association, MACEC – Motorcycle Association of Central Europe and NMC – Nordic Motorsport Council.

“I am very happy with the six Regional Associations” stated Dr. Wolfgang Srb, President of FIM Europe. “They know the Federations and the sport in their part of Europe best and organize Championships at affordable costs for the teams and riders without traveling too long distances – for me a perfect model that would for sure work in all parts of the world. AAM is additionally a very special and interesting model as there are member Federations from Europe, Africa and Asia. Regional Championships are, in general, one level above National Championships and one level below a Continental Championship – a perfect stepping stone for young and promising riders to the next level.”
