European U21 Team Speedway Championship SF 1 at Daugavpils (Latvia)

The SF1 of the European U21 Team Speedway Championship has been held at Daugavpils, in Latvia, in front of around 2.500 spectators.
Consistent rain prevented the practice, which was postponed twice and at the end – at 15:30 – cancelled. At the same time the rain stopped and the Jury and all team managers decided that after some track preparation the meeting could start.

Finally at 16:25 the first heat started. At the first heat the first rider was excluded for touching the tape. It was Roman Laukhbaum from Russian team. After the first heat Ukraine was leading, followed by Latvia, Sweden and Russia with no points.
In the following heats there was some tough racing as well as 8 riders being victims of the tough track conditions.


When it started raining again – during the heat 10 – the Jury together with all the managers decided to stop the meeting.
Official results arrived after heat 10 of 20. Team Latvia will go straight to the final which will be held in Krosno, in Poland, on August 19, while the Swedish team must wait for the results of the second semi-final at Abensberg (Germany) on August 5th.
