A meaningful news of the European Championship, already in force last year, is that the world top riders and the European Champions can attend the series. So, it could happen for the first time that a rider who has who has already won this championship might be crowned again.
In the main class there is the return of Italian thirty year-old Matteo Grattarola (Montesa), European champion in 2012, who will face the young generation, starting with the English brothers Dan and Jack Peace (both on Gas Gas) and Toby Martin (Montesa), or the Spaniard Francesc Moret (Montesa).
An interesting return in the Over 40 class is represented by Italian Piero Sembenini (Montesa), a former rider who was several times in point-zone in the 90s World Championship. A proof of good skill is expected from young French Ugo Defrese (Gas Gas) in the Junior class.
In the category reserved to Women, here is another opportunity for the two-times German champion Theresa Bauml (Montesa) to show her value.
The next rounds of this championship are scheduled on the 26th and 27th of May in Krzeszowice, Poland, (Youth and Women), followed by a weekend only for Europe, Junior and Over 40 categories on 7th and 8th of July in Isola 2000, France. Two other weekends with competition for Women and Youth classes on Saturday and on Sunday for the other classes will be in Santo Stefano d’Aveto, Italy on August 4th and 5th and in Bilstain Belgium the following weekend.
