European Enduro Championship at Gouveia (Portugal) - Day1

The first round of the European Enduro Championship started today at Gouveia, in Portugal.
On the demanding track, among rocks and stones and a lot of dust, the French junior rider Theophile Espinasse took the first victory. The Sherco rider won all the first five tests and finished 25,6 seconds in front of Italian Oscar Balletti. The latter had an advantage from the technical problems of Anthony Geslin – the French was second until but he had technical problems at the last timecheck and dropped down to 14th position.

Espinasse won the junior E2/E3 class as well, with more than half a minute of advantage on his compatriots David Abgrail and Hugo Balanjoue.
In the junior-class E1 the first place went to French Jeremy Miroir, who won ahead of Italian Matteo Rossi and of Czech Kristof Kouble.
Among the under 20 Brit Daniel Mundell won in front of Italian Claudio Spanu and Neels Theric from France.
The reigning Senior E1 champion Guido Conforti finished the race only in 5th position. Andreas Linusson from Sweden with his KTM took the first position in front of Edgars Silins from Latvia and Daan Bruijsten from the Netherlands.

Marco Neubert, the reigning Senior E2 champion took the lead until he crashed in the 5th test, where he lost nearly 30 seconds. So KTM rider Nicolas Pellegrinelli snatched the victory in front of Brit Jamie Lewis. Pellegrinelli is the reigning junior champion, but he is racing in the Senior class.
The reigning Senior E3 champion Maurizio Micheluz was beaten by his compatriot Oscar Balletti. Early day leader Geslin dropped down to third position because of a penalty.
After a long time without racing, German Arne Domeyer won in the Veteran class: reigning champion Sebastian Krywolt from Poland gained the third position behind Juha Puotsaari from Finland.
In the Women class Jessica Gardiner on Yamaha won in front of Hanna Berzelius from Sweden and Marita Nyqvist from Finland.
