Updated Calendar for the 2014 Supermoto European Championship

Last Round of Supermoto EC in Rivesaltes (France)

Sunny Rivesaltes welcomed the riders of the European SuperMoto Championship on the circuit “Le Grand Roussillon” for the final round of the series this year. On the Saturday, all practices and races went on very well. No accident. On Sunday the racing conditions were excellent : sunny and hot weather, cut throat competition. At the end of the first race, there was a gap of 3 points between rider Devon VERMEULEN Devon and Edgardo BORELLA. So there was a real suspence for the title at the second race. In second race Edgardo Borella took the lead until the end followed by Riders Eddy Petard and Frederic Guerin who fight strongly. That’s why Devon Vermeulen could not overtake them in order to fight for the title. Therefore Edgardo Borella is the European Champion.   (FIM Europe Press Release 145/2013)

6th Round of Supermoto EC in Triscina (Italy)

Sunny Triscina in Sicily welcomed the riders of the European SuperMoto Championship on the circuit Kartodrome Castelvetrano for the sixth round of the series this year. Having no big difference in the points of the top five riders the question for the weekend was who will be the new leader? So the first race saw the two KTMs of Devon Vermeulen (NED) and Toni Klem (FIN) finishing first and second with a minimal gap of 0.4 sec. Edgardo Borella (Yamaha) from Italy finished third. Malachi Mithchel Thomas (GBR, TM) made a mistake in the beginning of the race but that gave a chance to Aseri Kingelin (FIN, Honda) to show his skills and finish at the fourth place, four seconds after Borella. The second race was the race of Aseri Kingelin who managed to avoid any mistakes and finish first, followed by Edgardo Borella and Tomi Klem on the third

Last round of the S3 Supermoto European Championship in Pleven (Bulgaria)

The world-wide recognized Supermoto track of Pleven (Bulgaria) was the host of the last round of European Supermoto SOpen, S3 and SMJunior Championship 2013. Angel Karanyotov of Bulgaria (Honda) managed to take the holeshot, lead through-out the complete first race and win the SOpen class in front of Bulgarian Alexander Georgiev (KTM). First race podium of SOpen class was completed by Makedonian Slobodan Ivceski (KTM) after the retiring of Bulgarian Antonio Todorov (KTM) in the last lap. In S3 class Austrian Andreas Buschberger (KTM) managed to defend his leading position in front of Bulgarian rider Borislav Stoimenov (KTM), earning the first spot. Third after these two riders finished Romanian Vlad Neaga (Suzuki). First race of SM Junior was very animated, with Bulgarian Hakan Halmi (KTM) and Austrian Maximilian Kofler (KTM) in front of the race from the beginning. 5th Round of Supermoto EC in Latina (Italy)

Latina in Italy hosted round 5 of Supermoto European Championship for class ES2, and for Young trophy as well. 16 riders participate at the event. It was supposed to be the first night race, but due to the safety reasons it was finally decided to run all races during the daylight. Although Malachi Mitchell-Thomas (TM) was the fastest in the time practice, he was not in the position to lead the race 1. At the start Edgardo Borella (Yamaha) took the lead, but after six laps Diego Monticelli (Honda) overtook him and leading the race to the chequered flag. Behind him it was a big battle of 5 riders for second place. Two laps before the finish Sami Salstoa (TM) overtake Mitchell-Thomas and these three riders were on the first three positions. 4th Round of Supermoto EC in Kuressaare (Estonia)

Estonian Kuressaare’s Airport was the host of the fourth event in the 2013 European Supermoto ES2 + Young Trophy Championship. Sunday morning started with an upset for French rider Frederic Guerin who fell down during Warm-Up and damaged his right shoulder, not being able to defend his hard fought pole-position on Saturday’s Time Practice in any of the Sunday’s races. Italian Edgardo Borella (Yamaha) managed to take the hole-shot and lead the first laps of the first race with Championship Leader Dutch Devon Vermeulen (KTM) close on his tracks. A compact group of six riders were escaping in front, great racing being cheered by the thousands of spectators who were present. Third round of the Supermoto EC in Sosnova (Czech Republic)

Track of Sosnova (Czech Republic) hosted round 3 of European Supermoto championship for class ES2, and for Young Trophy as well. 25 riders participate at the event and races were supported by many Czech motorsport fans. Race 1 has been red flagged in the second lap due to the accident; fortunately there were no serious injuries for the riders. In the repeated start Edgardo Borella (Yamaha) had the best start and was leading the first half of the race. Then he lost two positions in just one lap, and Malachi Mitchell-Thomas (TM) took the lead, with Asseri Kingelin (Honda) on the second place. First three positions remained the same to the finish of race 1. Mitchell-Thomas has been also winner of Youth trophy in race one, followed by Diego Monticelli (Honda) on second and Frederic Guerin (Suzuki) on third place. Supermoto European Championship in Vransko (Slovenia)

The European SuperMoto Championship SM Junior, S3 and OPEN went this weekend to Vransko, Slovenia, for the fourth consecutive year on the circuit Vrana. The third event of the series for the SM Junior class was marked by the big battle between the Bulgarian Hakan Halmi (KTM) and Austrian Maximilian Kofler (KTM). In the first race Maximilian won against Hakan with a difference of just 0,5 sec, leaving Ivelin Manev (KTM, Bulgaria) on the third place. The second race for the juniors was won by Halmi, following a mistake of Kofler in the offroad section, Manev being second. Finally the podium in the SM Junior class was composed by Hakan Halmi as the winner, Maximilian Kofler on the second place and Ivelin Manev third. In the Kids trophy 65cc, this time the winner was Dimitar Petrov from Bulgaria, followed by Andreas Kofler (Austria), both with KTMs, third finished Georgi Totev

Second round of the Supermoto EC in Variano (Italy)

The second round of 2013 SuperMoto European Championship ES2 has been held this weekend in Vairano di Vidigulfo. The first heat was characterized from an enthusiastic battle between the British rider Malachi Mitchell Thomas (TM) and the Dutch Devon Vermuelen (KTM), Mitchell arrived first under the checkered flag overtaking Vermulen at the second last lap after exchanging their position many times during the race. Third position was obtained by the Finnish rider Asseri Kingelin (Honda). In the second heat the British rider Malachi Mitchell Thomas (TM), after taking the hole shot, has compromised the victory of the race during the first lap with a crash in the off road section which forced him to restart from position 13. The heat was won by the Dutch Devon Vermuelen (KTM) in front of the French rider Frederic Guerin (Suzuki) and the Finnish rider Asseri Kingelin (Honda). Thanks to these results, the GP
