The last round with two races of the FIM Europe Supermono Cup was held this weekend at the Assen Track in Holland. Spreads rounds with many changes of positions to the delight of the audience. With a victory in the first round and a second position in the second round Dutch rider Mike Velthuijzen (Yamaha) managed to win the 2014 Supermono Cup.  Download here FIM Europe Press Release 164/2014    

On the occasion of the recent meeting of the FIM Board of Directors in Geneva an important decision has been made: Mr. Ignacio Verneda, currently Executive Director Sports, has been appointed as the new CEO of FIM. “Congratulations on behalf of FIM Europe”, stated President Dr. Wolfgang Srb, “This is an excellent choice. Ignacio Verneda has a long term experience in the sport and, most important, he comes from the FIM family and fully understands what FIM, CONUs and National Motorcycle Federations are all about. FIM Asia, represented by President Mr. Wan Zaharuddin Wan Ahmad and assisted by QMMF President and FIM Board Member Mr. Nasser Khalifa Al Atya, and FIM Europe, represented by President Dr. Wolfgang Srb, agreed on a long term partnership that will benefit both CONUs. FIM Europe consists of 47 National Motorcycle Federations, while FIM Asia is comprised of 25 National Motorcycle Federations. Augusto Fernandez (WIL Sport) has clinched the 2014 Pata European Junior Cup, powered by Honda title after an intense 10 lap race at Magny-Cours, held under wet conditions. The young Spaniard, who had to finish the race in the top-15, was third at the flag behind race winner Javier Orellana (Europ Food SL) and wildcard Dorian Laville (Team Laville Mi&Do). The final STK600 race of the year has been won by Toprak Razgatlioglu (Bike ServiceRacing) after a thrilling 8 lap race at Magny-Cours this afternoon. The race was initially stopped after a nine rider crash at the infamous turn four hairpin, thankfully all riders were uninjured an all but two were able to take the restart. On the restart everyone made it safely around the hairpin and at the front a titanic battle then ensued. With several of the leading riders making their debut in the class, the fans were treated to a spectacular fight as the leading group consisting of over nine riders stayed locked together. At the flag it was Razgatlioglu who came out victorious with Anthony Dumont (SLMotuer) and Niki Tuuli (Kallio Racing) completing the podium. With spotlights illuminating the Skybox and podium area where the awards were presented by MXGP Hosts Paul Malin and Amy Dargan, the chilly night air was warmed with celebration as the 2014 FIM Motocross World Champions, European Motocross Champions and the award winning MXGP industry names were honored. Following a warm introduction given by Paul Malin and Amy Dargan, Youthstream President Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, FIM President Mr. Vito Ippolito and FIM Europe President Dr. Wolfgang Srb took to the podium to personally welcome around two hundred guests to the 2014 edition of the MXGP Awards. The fourth and last Final of 2014 Speedway European Championship took place on 19th September in the beautiful Speedway Arena of Czestochowa, Poland. 6.500 spectators have seen a very exciting Final with everything that makes speedway so spectaculars. Many heats with a lot of overtakes, great sport and fair racing has been a real advertising of our sport. Thanks to One Sport as promoter of this SEC series not only the spectators in the stadium but also millions of audience around the world could see this fantastic Final live on TV. The medals to the Emil Sayfutdinov, Russia as a new European Champion as well to 2.place Peter Kildemand and 3.place Nicki Pedersen (both Denmark) were given by the FIM Europe President, Dr. Wolgang Srb, who also enjoyed the meeting very much. Full agenda for FIM Europe President in Rome on 18th September: Dr. Wolfgang Srb started his day with his official settlement in his Italian office, where his staff and Secretary General work. During the day, Dr. Srb had two important meetings, with President of the European Weightlifting Federation Mr. Antonio Urso and Prof. Fabio Pigozzi, President of the International Sports Medicine Federation and Rector of the State University of Rome “Foro Italico”. The cooperation between FIM Europe and the European Weightlifting Federation had already started last February, with a Workshop on Weight Training for motorcycling riders, reserved to FIME FMNs Trainers, in the Austrian city of Graz. The two disciplines, in fact, have several points in common, and they reveal complementary in training, since weightlifting allows riders to increase their strength without augmenting muscular mass, and therefore weight. The meeting with Prof. Pigozzi was meant to continue the strong partnership

  Today in the offices of Italian Federation in Rome a meeting about the future of European Road Racing was held.
