FIM Europe hosts meeting with FEMA

"Our organisations are active on behalf of motorcycling with the authorities in Brussels”, commented Mr Silvio Manicardi. “It is important that those who do this work know the reality of motorcycling in the South. Too often I think decision makers don't really get the full picture. In Italy alone we have one quarter of all the riders in the EU and Norway and Switzerland. - Eight million. FIM Europe mourns Dragan Stankovic’s loss

FIM Europe is saddened to report the loss of Mr Dragan Stankovic, who died yesterday morning.The funeral will be held in Belgrade on Thursday, 25th of June, Central Cemetery (str. Zaplanjska) at 12:30. Born in 1957 in Belgrade, Dragan Stankovic had been in FIM Europe Road Commission for the latest 5 years, was President of Moto Association of Serbia from 2008 to 2015 and from this year he was Selector for Road Racing in MSS. He had started competitions in the Road Racing in 1972 and continued to race up to 2007 in all categories of Road Racing. Mr Stankovic was a multiple champion of Yugoslavia, Serbia and Montenegro, participated in the World Championship, European Championship and Regional Championship, and had the FIM license since 1978.He was member of the Board of Directors of AMSJ, AMSSCG and SAMS and President of the Board of Motor Sport, up to the formation of Moto

2015 FIM Europe Congress and Road Safety Conference in Malta

Malta is going to host the 2015 FIM Europe Congress and Road Safety Conference, which will be held from July 2nd to Saturday 4th July in the Grand Hotel Excelsior. The meeting is to host FIM-Europe delegates from 47 European Federations to discuss and approve decisions regarding FIM Europe management and 360° issues in the field of Motorcycling: from Sport to Safety, to Touring. The program of the Congress foresees the meeting of the Sporting Council and of the Non-Sporting Council on Thursday, of the Management Council and of the Secretaries General on Friday, and again the Sporting and Non-Sporting Council meeting on Saturday, followed by the Management Council and by the General Assembly, with the Official Dinner to conclude the Congress. In particular for Safety, on July 3rd, the 9th edition of the Road Safety Conference will be held too, which traditionally takes place yearly during the FIM Europe Congress.FIM Europe comments that since its

European Superstock 250 Championship in Grobnik (Croatia)

Filip Salac, winner of Race1 The city of Grobnik hosted the third round of the European Superstock 250 Championship, with races both on Saturday and on Sunday. The Hungarian Mate Laczko was the fastest in qualifying practices and he gained the pole position. In the first race, held on Saturday, the winner was however Filip Salac, from Czech Republic, who finished in front of poleman Mate Laczko and of Czech Petr Svoboda, third. Italian Manuel Torrini was fourth, while Oliver Konig (CZE) and Roman ml Kucera (SVK) did not finish race one. Oliver Konig, winner of Race2 On Sunday the race was a real fight among the young riders of this new Continental series: the poleman Mate Laczko managed to win the race in front of Oliver Konig and of the winner of race1 Filip Salač. To the delight of the German crowd that flooded the awesome venue here in Teutschenthal, Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Brian Hsu stood on the podium for the first time in his career while Apico Husqvarna’s Steven Clarke, the defending EMX250 champion, also hit a career milestone with his first ever overall victory.A few spanners were thrown in the works today with the drop of the gate.   The start of Moto2 The FIM CEV Repsol riders have been cheered on this weekend by 24,000 fans who came to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Under a scorching sun, Edgar Pons (SPA-Kalex) and Carmelo Morales (SPA-Yamaha) have added one more victory to their roster in the Moto2 European Championship and in the Superbike European Championship. Edgar Pons (SPA-Kalex) took a resounding victory in the Moto2 European Championship race and is proving unstoppable this season. Lapping a good way behind Pons, came a competitive chasing group with no clear leader. At the start of the race, Alan Techer (FRA-Tech 3) looked impressive, coming through from sixth place on the grid to trail the leading rider while fighting a continuous battle with Luca Marini (ITA-Kalex). Today the sixth-round Pata European Junior Cup, powered by Honda, race at Misano, Italy ended in dramatic style this afternoon with race and series leader Javier Orellana getting knocked off his Honda CBR650F just three corners from clinching the 2015 title. The Spanish rider led into the final lap knowing that victory in today’s 10-lap race at the 4.226km Misano World Circuit would allow him to secure the 2015 European Junior Cup with two rounds to spare. However, he was pursued hard by Italy’s Emanuele Pusceddu, who was placed fourth in the points table.As the leading pair hit the fast turn 12, Pusceddu lunged for lead but, instead, collided with Orellana, sending both riders into the gravel trap, thankfully unhurt.The race was consequently won by Italian Guiseppe de Gruttola, who celebrated his 20th birthday today in some style, with Alfonso Coppola finishing in second place, just six thousandths of a

Above, Nicki Pedersen, Tomasz Jędrzejak and Paweł Przedpełski.  Yesterday evening the inaugural round of Speedway European Championships series on the most modern stadium MotoArena in Torun was held. Over 9000 spectators could see the amazing actions into a fence, the fight on elbows for every centimeter of the track.Nicki Pedersen won the first round. In the big final the Danish rider was faster than Pawel Przedpelski, who rode in Torun as wild card. Third place for Emil Sajfutdinov, who was invicible in first five heats. European Honda 150 and EMX 250 in Teutschenthal (Germany) - Day 1

In EMX 250 the Belgian Damon Graulus  on Yamaha won the race before Steven Clarke on Husqvarna and Adam Sterry on KTM, both British.  Sterry arrived in Teutschenthal as leader of the championship classification and still maintains his position at the top of the standings, even if only with 5 point of advantage on today’s winner Graulus. In the Honda 150, Emil Weckman, current red plate holder, took his third win of the season in the Honda European 150 Championship at the MXGP of Germany today. The young Finn took the Holeshot and soon settled into the lead but was unable to relax as the top eight riders were separated by the smallest of margins for the first half of the race.
