Trial European Championship: final round in Czech Republic

Gianluca Tournour

Final round for all the categories of the 2019 FIM Europe Trial Championship in Brezova, Czech Republic in this coming week-end. The small town, part of Sokolov district, situated in the West of Czech Republic, close to German border, will welcome in its forests all the best European riders fighting to get the 5 titles not yet assigned.

Two day-event – as all the other’s of this season –  consists of all the classes of the European Trials. This good choice allows the clubs with riders belonging to different categories to come in large number of their members. Moreover there are  the International classes,  invented for beginners and being one level lower than the respective classes of riders competing for a title (or cup) they are more accessible to everybody.

On Saturday, the 17th,,  it will be decided the European champion in Women and Youth classes. Italian Alex Brancati (Beta) is favorite between the women, having still 40 points lead on Norwegian Ingveig Hakonsen (TRRS), winner one week ago in France.

To overturn this forecast Hakonsen not only will have to stay ahead of Brancati, she also has to hope that other riders will finish between their two’s.

Apparently easier to bet on Spanish Pau Martinez (Vertigo) as possible champion in Youth class. He matured 60 points more than British Jack Dance (Gas Gas), first of many young country mates, rich of high skills to fight for podium positions.

As usual the best riders show up on Sunday. Strong of his 70 points lead Spanish Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa) should not have problem to be crowned as 2019 European champion.

It deserves attention the fight for the vice-champion more open to other riders. Italian Gianluca Tournour (Gas Gas) is leading the group of chasers, but 20 points behind him, Spaniard  Aniol Gelabert (Scorpa) has no intention to yield easily.

Best candidate to get the Junior Cup remains Austrian Marco Mempor (Beta), 50 points clear of Norwegian Vold Gunvaldsen (TRRS).

Odds on Italian Andrea Soulier (Beta) to take home the Over 40 Cup, able to win all the previous rounds.  German Markus Kipp (TRRS) and Italian Andrea Buschi (TRRS) will try to contrast him.
