Start of the Supermoto 85cc EC in Pleven (Bulgaria)

fim europeThe second round of the European SuperMoto Championship SM85 and SM3 was organized on the all asphalt circuit of Pleven in Bulgaria. Having in mind the awful weather throughout the weekend, the circuit proved to be a top SuperMoto facility in all weather conditions and a fun playground for those who really do not fear the concrete tabletops and kiwi waves.

In class SM85, “the magnificent four” – Hakan Halmi (KTM, Bulgaria), Maximilian Kofler (Husqvarna, Austria) Can Oncu (KTM, Turkey) and Deniz Oncu (KTM, Turkey) made a top notch performace and defined new boundaries of what SuperMoto in the Junior class should be. Max Kofler won the first race in the class, followed by Hakan and the two Oncu brothers, Can – third and Deniz fourth. In the second race, Hakan won with less than a second gap from Max, third, at 0,3 seconds behind was Can, followed by Deniz. Finally the podium was composed by Halmi first with 47 points, Kofler with the same number of points – second, and Can third with 40 points.

In SM3, Asrin Rodi Pak (KTM, Turkey) continued his winning series in the 250 category with two wins in Pleven, and made a total of four wins in a row, setting a a big gap to the followers behind him. What happened behind was a Bulgarian fight between three competitors. Borislav Stoimenov (KTM, Bulgaria) was stable in both races, winning the second place with 44 points, Ivelin Manev with 4-3 finishing positions won against Veselin Ivanov (Kawasaki, Bulgaria) and put his Suzuki on the third place of the podium.

Next race for SM85 and SM3 will be again in Pleven, on the 15th of June, at the same date with the third round of the European SM2 SuperMoto Championship which will be organized in Sosnova, Czech Republic.
