Speedway Euro Championship at Hallstavik (Sweden)

Vaclav Milik was the best in the third round of the Speedway Euro Championship, which took place at Hallstavik, in Sweden, in front of around 2.500 spectators. On the podium also Andzejs Lebedevs and Andreas Jonsson. Latvian Lebedevs still is the leader of the general standing.
This morning at 10:00, riders took part to the training. Unfortunately practise showed that Adrian Miedziński could not take part to the competition due to his arm injury, so the reserve rider Pontus Aspgren replaced him.
In heat 2, Mateusz Szczepaniak and Martin Smolinski performed a great show. The German rider attacked “Szczepan” on the inside, which allowed him to overtake his rival and win first race in SEC 2017.
The second series was good for Martin Smolinski too. “Smolly”, despite bad start, tried to overtake his rivals. Finally he did it at the last corner, when Krzysztof Kasprzak and Andrey Kudryashov rode outside.

The leader of the general standing Andzejs Lebedevs attacked Krzystof Kasprzak in heat 9 from start to the finish line. Finally he passed the Pole on the outside. Knowledge about track in Hallstavik helped Andreas Jonsson. “AJ” was the fastest in heat 10 and won a race from gate A as a first rider. In next race, Michał Szczepaniak had a lot of bad luck again. As in Toruń and Gustrow, where he lost chances to win due huge mistakes, he rode too hard on the outside and lost 3 points.
After heat 12 the organizers decided to make a long break due to bad track condition after rain.
In heat 13 Andreas Jonsson was the best again. The Swedish rider won with huge advantage what gave him 3 points. In heat 16 Mikkel Bech and Pontus Aspgren made an interesting show.

In the last series, Andzejs Lebedevs and Artem Laguta fought a nice duel. At the end the best was Laguta, who built enough advantage after 2 laps. After basic phase, Andreas Jonsson and Andzejs Lebedevs were promoted to the final. In extra heat fans saw Vaclav Milik, Artem Laguta, Jacob Thorssell and Pontus Aspgren.
In race-off, Vaclav Milik and Artem Laguta had the best start. The Russian rider was slower and slower, but at the end the wild card rider was promoted to the final.
In the last heat Andreas Jonsson, Andzejs Lebedevs, Vaclav Milik and Jacob Thorssell faced one another. At the start, the fastest was Milik again, but Lebedevs didn’t want to give up. Race settled down on the second straight, where the Czech rider took the lead. Finally second was Lebedevs, in front of Jonsson and Thorssell.
