The first event for the UEM Superstock 600 European Championship was held on the 31st of March 2012 at the historic track in Imola (Italy).
It was a very well organized event held together with the World Superbike Championship. At this opening round participated 38 riders from 15 countries.
Riccardo Russo (Team Italia FMI Yamaha) won the event by a large margin of 2.534 seconds after 11 laps of front running action. The series regular was unchallenged at the end, with Nacho Calero Perez (Team Trasimeno Yamaha) second. During the race there was a big fight for the 3rd position, which was decided in the very last corner when Rider No. 70 Vitali crashed, allowing the Dutch rider Van der Mark to finish on the podium.
