The city of Daugavpils, in Latvia, hosted the Individual Speedway Euro Championship, with 18 riders at the start in front of 6.000 spectators. Despite the threat of heavy rain the meeting was completed with only a small amount of rain, with good luck as heavy rain fell immediately after the last heat.The races were of an excellent standard, with several overtakings in almost every heat.The local supporters were kept happy with some good displays by the Latvian riders, Maksims Bogdanovs reaching the final as a wild card. His luck ran out as he crashed in the first staging of the final, and was disqualified.
