International Classic Grand Prix at Almeria (Spain)

The last two rounds of ICGP were held at Almeria, in Spain, with 16 participants in front of around 1000 spectators in sunny, hot weather conditions.

In Saturday’s practice only Stefan Tennstaedt from Germany had some problems – in 1st QP his engine was broken, in the 2nd he crashed (luckily without consequence). Even though, he snatched the 6th grid position and 2nd in his class behind Vincent Levieux (FRA). Very hard fight for Renaud Binoche (SPA), who at the end signed the second qualifying time behind Mike Edwards (GBR).
In Race1 in 350cc class Mike Edwards won with a big margin. He said: “I was always riding at 100%”, at at the beginning of the race he lost 2 positions and had to ride really fast to win. Second was Renaud Binoche (his best lap was 2 sec faster than in QP but it was not enough to beat Edwards). The battle for 3rd position was won by Jean Paul Lecointe (FRA) who finished 0,1 sec ahead of Guillaume Foureau (FRA).

Mike Edwards, the winner of the series

In the 250cc class the winner was Don Gilbert (FRA). He arrived 3rd at the finishing line and 2 sec ahead of Lacointe on a 350cc motorcycle. Second position for Vincent Levieux (FRA) and 3rd for Stefan Tennstaedt (GER).

In Race 2 the winner was once again Mike Edwards with over 16 sec over Don Gilbert, winner in 250 class. Vincent Levieux and Stefan Tennstaedt completed the podium of 250 class while Guillaume Foureau and Serge Guillermin were second and third in the 350 cc class. Renaud Binoche was forced to retire two laps before the end.
In FIM Europe ICGP 2017 the winner is Mike Edwards ahead of Jean Paul Lecointe and Guillaume Foureau.
