Moto2™In Moto2™, Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex) made good on his pole position to achieve his fourth win of the season, followed by Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex) and Alan Techer (FRA-NTS T Pro). Edgar Pons, the new Moto2 European Champion Twenty-five thousand fans packed the paddock and grandstands to enjoy the sun, spring temperatures, blazing speeds and undiluted excitement of the final six races of the season at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana. With Carmelo Morales (SPA-Yamaha) already crowned champion in Jerez, this time it was the turn of Edgar Pons (SPA-Kalex), who was pronounced champion of the Moto2 European Championship. The first Moto2 European Championship race was reduced to 13 laps after another red flag, forcing riders to go all out with little time for strategies. Eventual winner Xavi Vierge (SPA-Tech 3) pushed hard from the start, closely watched by Edgar Pons (SPA-Kalex), who settled in to take second place on the podium. Edgar Pons Despite the unpromising forecast, the weather was partly favourable for the FIM CEV Repsol today in Jerez, with riders of the two categories enjoying one session with a totally dry track though the other was affected by rain. The prevailing wind hampered the day’s qualifying sessions from beginning to end, which nevertheless left Pons in Moto2 and Morales in Superbike out in front despite the inclement weather.In the first session of the Moto2 European Championship Edgar Pons (SPA-Kalex) was quickest, but in the second Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex) put in the fastest time. However, the best times were posted in the morning sun, as the rain began to fall 20 minutes into the second session. In pole position tomorrow will be championship leader, Edgar Pons (SPA-Kalex), accompanied by Alan Techer (FRA-Tech 3) and Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex) on the front row.
