International Classic Grand Prix at Paul Ricard, France

The first round of the International Classic Grand Prix Cup was held last weekend on the circuit of Paul Ricard, in France with 37 riders at the start. The “Sunday Ride Classic” was a great event, with many spectators from several countries all over Europe. The presentation of old racing machines and historical names created a special atmosphere, with 23.000 spectators in the three days. In Race1 the winner was British Mike Edwards, who had over 11 seconds of advantage on his first rival, French Kean Paul Lecointe. Third position for Ian Simpson, from Great Britain. British Colin Sleigh is fourth but first of 250 Class. Ninth position for the winner of YC250 class, French André Gouin. In Race2 Mike Edwards was able to confirm himself, even if this time the gap from the second was slightly less than 7 seconds. The second place belonged to Ian Simpson, who finished the race ahead

European Supersport Cup at Aragon, Spain

The European Supersport Cup kicked off at Aragon, in Spain, during the first Continental round of the World Superbike. The event was held in the context of the first European round of the World Supersport Championship. Eight European Cup riders were on the starting grid. Unfortunately the fastest in qualifying, Alessandro Zaccone, had a technical problem with his MV Agusta and was forced to stop during the first lap. The fastest European Cup rider at the chequered flag was Hannes Soomer, on Honda CBR 600 RR, from Estonia, who finished the World race in 9th position (in the photo from Martin Hejduk). Second place for Rob Hartog, from The Netherlands, on Kawasaki, who was 12th in the overall standing. Third position for Peter Sebestyen, on Kawasaki, from Hungary, 19th below the chequered flag. European Superstock 1000 at Aragon (Spain)

The swooping MotorLand Aragon circuit played host for the opening European Superstock 1000 championship round, and Michael Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing –Junior Team) dominated the 13 lap race under sunny Spanish skies. Starting from pole position, the Italian rider took a strong lead from the first lap. By the end of the first lap he had a lead of over 0.3s over Maximilian Schieb (Nuova M2 Racing), who later crashed at turn four on lap six. This left the door wide open for Florian Marino (PATA Yamaha Official STK1000 Team), who took control of second position and crossed the finish line 3.587s behind the race winner. Roberto Tamburini (PATA Yamaha Official STK1000 Team) made up for a tough day yesterday and completed the podium around MotorLand, and was again a lonely 6.732s back from the race winner. 2016’s regular podium finisher Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) fought for a podium finish

The FIM CEV Repsol provisional 2017 calendar has been updated. The event to be held in the Circuito do Estoril, originally scheduled for September 3rd, has been rescheduled for July 23rd. During the weekend, the European Moto 2 and European Talent Cup will be held, too. European Individual Ice Speedway Final at Ufa (Russia) – Day 2

The Day2 of the European Individual Ice Speedway Final was held today at Ufa, in Russia. The day started again with a snowstorm what ended before the first heat. The temperatures have been just below zero today. An exciting fight for the first position between Solyannikov and Ebner started in heat one so spectators could see the high level of this meeting. Yesterday’s fourth placed Max Niedermaier faced a disqualification in his opening ride and could only make it to the C Final today. So the challenge to the Russian riders was left to Harald Simon and Charly Ebner, both from Austria. Simon was disqualified in his final heat, and his challenge for the title ended, but he did enough to secure his fourth place overall in the Championship. Ebner raced in the A final today and crashed in this heat, but this was enough to secure him fifth place overall

European Individual Ice Speedway Final at Ufa (Russia)

The European Individual Ice Speedway Final was held today at Ufa, in Russia. The meeting was held on a professional level and 3100 spectators watched an exciting meeting with lot of overtakings and fights for first positions. Current European Nr 3 Harald Simon faced a disqualification in his first heat so he had to stop at the B final today. Grand Prix rider Max Niedermaier managed to take 2 heat wins and with 11 points he was in the A final, together with 5 times heat winner, local hero and current European Champion Nikolay Krasnikov. Second position for Eduard Krysov, after a hard fight with Krasnikov. Third position for young Dmitry Solyannikov. Before the start of the meeting a little snowstorm was over the stadium but it cleared right before the start of the first heat. FIM Europe announces the new Stocksport 300 European Cup

The European Stocksport 300 Cup is open to motorcycles derived from the series, with 4 stroke engines for which the manufacturer (or importer) obtained from FIM Europe an approval for this class. As the name European Stocksport 300 Cup implies, the motorcycles used are allowed limited modifications. In order to establish a fair playing field, four models have currently been homologated for the use in the series: Honda CBR500R, KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha YZF-R3, with the machines with larger engine capacity subject to stricter rev limits.
